Booras Builders Custom Builder Booras Builders is a family-owned and operated custom-home building company, based in Northwest Indiana.

We can almost certainly determine a way to make your vision a reality. However complicated the roof, complex the calculation, or impossible the span might seem, we can usually engineer a way to make it happen. In fact, we really enjoy that aspect of construction!

Self-Perform Every Trade
In the past, our staff used to self-perform all aspects of construction (framing, trim work, electrical, heating and cooling, ventilation, plumbing, roofing, siding, painting, etc....). As a result, we have a very thorough and complete understanding of technical experience and knowledge of all of the tradework. When you hire Booras Builders, you aren't hiring a General Contractor who just relies on the advice and competency of others. As the years have gone by and our company has grown, we no longer self-perform every trade, but we do still self-perform more tradework than anyone else, and have maintained the ability to do so. This helps ensure that the details of your house meet our company's highest standards.

- Budget Conscious
Your house is an investment and a great asset, and we want to build you a home for a great value. Because of our design and engineering abilities, we're able to work with your budget to help identify cost-saving measures.

- Craftsmanship
Several clients have noticed that we build homes as though they were our own. In fact, on multiple occasions, building inspectors have asked our employees if this was one of our personal houses because of the care that our work shows. We don't cut corners (metaphorically!), we don't skimp on materials, and we don't aim to simply meet minimum standards. Behind the walls, we go beyond what is required because we care about building quality, solid homes. We want to give a special Congratulations to Eric Gillhouse (Project Manager at Booras Builders)! The Duneland Chamber of Commerce recently endowed him as Volunteer of the Year for his leadership and hard work, serving as the President of State Park Little League! Congrats again, and thanks for the ways in which you positively impact our community!

Chamber honors State Park Little League impresario Eric Gillhouse as Volunteer of the Year

The Duneland Chamber of Commerce honored Eric Gillhouse—the beating heart of State Park Little League—as its Volunteer of the Year, at the annual awards luncheon at The Spa Special Events Center on Wednesday, July 16.

Presenting the award was Chrissy Tibbs:

“It’s one thing to give your time. It’s another to give your whole heart. And that’s exactly what this year’s honoree, Eric Gillhouse, has done—not just for the Little League, but for the entire Duneland community.

“As president of State Park Little League for the past three years—and a board member for five—Eric has completely transformed the program. What was once a small operation has grown into something extraordinary. Under Eric’s leadership, we’ve added over 70 new players, grown our board from eight to nearly 30 members, and expanded our reach to include older age groups who previously would have aged out of Little League. Thanks to his vision, no kid gets left behind.

“But it’s not just about numbers. It’s about what he’s built, literally and figuratively. He’s overseen major capital improvements: New batting cages, renovated fields, dugouts, scoreboards, a revamped concession stand, a new playground, and even an improved baseball field at Hawthorne Park that’s now home to our 50/70, Junior, and Senior divisions. What was once just a patch of grass is now a ‘Field of Dreams’ right in our backyard.

“He’s also helped bring State Park into the spotlight, earning the honor of hosting multiple district and state tournaments and drawing families and players from all over Indiana to Duneland. That kind of impact extends far beyond the baseball diamond.

“But what truly sets Eric apart is his selflessness. When we’re short an umpire, he steps in. When the concession stand needs help, he’s there. He trains our young umpires, mentors players, and somehow manages to rally an entire community of volunteers while still being a dedicated dad and husband. If you ever need to find Eric, just head to the fields. Chances are, he’s there with his kids, working on another project or helping someone else.

“Eric lives the motto he created for our league: ‘Bigger Than Baseball.’ Through his leadership, our players are learning not just how to swing a bat, but how to give back, how to lead, and how to build something meaningful.

“It’s been an absolute privilege to work alongside him, and I know I speak for the entire league—and the community—when I say how proud and grateful we are. Please join me in congratulating the 2025 Volunteer of the Year, my colleague and friend, Eric Gillhouse.”

The hour is at hand. For when He was on the Cross, we were on His mind.
