I am doing a project for a lady named Mary this fall. I met Mary 47 years ago when I worked for her father, Eugene. I think she was about 7 years old then. Unfortunately, Eugene passed away this spring. I wish I would have had a chance to talk to him again.
He was a kindly gentleman who hired Lee Milzark and myself to remove trees on his property. Lee and I had started a company called M & M Tree Experts (lol). Eugene was our first customer and they were thrilled with the job we did. We got many
referrals. Several years later I started Prestige Landscape and Patio Company which is still in operation today.
Lee and I are still friends, but to be honest cutting down trees scared the hell out of me. Lee was fearless, and at 17 years old was very talented.
So that is the story about how I started in business 47 years ago, and I have Eugene to thank for having confidence in a 15 year old kid. I am delighted to be able to help his daughter now, so many years later.

Dear Friends,
During the pandemic we have been busy. The only difference for us has been seeing our customers at home everyday. Since we are outside and social distancing everything has been fine.
See the pictures below of a project we completed over the last year. The wall stones and decorative steps and pieces were re-purposed from the Clemen’s Mansion. If you would like more information on the Clemen’s Mansion please use the following link http://prestigelandscapestl.com/clemenshouse.htm

Just a reminder that we are moving into the season where watering is going to be beneficial. We recommend watering 3 times a week for established plantings and every other day for new plantings (in the absence of any rain).

Rain Gardens have become a necessity as people build bigger houses and pave more ground. Development is making water run off faster. Rain gardens are designed to slow down how fast water gets to the sewers and streams to prevent flooding.

Basically, the idea is to create a temporary pond for water from downspouts. The drains are run to the rain garden in large drain pipes. A much smaller pipe enables the rain garden to drain slowly. The rain gardens, are built so that water is also able to be absorbed into the ground.
The photos are of a project where I designed a circular drive. The city required us to slow the run off so I designed a rain garden that could not be seen from the street 20’ away.
