Substandard installation coupled with poor workmanship: a dryer fire waiting to happen.
Here’s another gem we uncovered while correcting some noted items on an inspection report by VT DFS.
It would appear that someone was in a rush to get this dryer working or simply didn’t care enough to do it right.
Note how one leg of the circuit was nearly cooked while the other shows almost no damage; likely due to a bad splice.

Sure, he’s cheap and he knows how to “make it happen” but that doesn’t mean you can trust his work! This homeowner called when she saw smoke and fortunately had the sense to turn off the circuit. Stay safe, everyone, and remember “Wiring is not a hobby- Call a professional”

Perkinsville Refresh
While changing fixtures and devices for a recent customer I came across this classic smoke detector still in service! Though I appreciate the novelty (and I have nothing but fond memories of the 80’s for sure) I feel compelled to remind everyone that smoke detectors need to be changed every ten years.
