Completed preventative maintenance this week on a set of Carrier AquaSnap chillers.
Upon arrival, Chiller #1 was only operating at ~38% capacity and was repeatedly hitting low superheat alarms. After digging in, the issue traced back to a faulty suction pressure transducer that was 40 psi off.
Additionally, condenser performance was suffering — condensing temperature was around 135°F due to coils that were still heavily impacted from last season. After a thorough coil cleaning, we brought that down to ~100°F condensing, significantly improving efficiency and overall operation.
Chiller #2 had its own challenges, with multiple failed thermistors preventing proper operation. Even with outdoor temps only in the 70s, the system was struggling to maintain chilled water setpoint.
The good news — all issues have been identified, and a clear plan is in place to get both machines back to reliable, full-capacity operation.
Preventative maintenance isn’t just about checking boxes — it’s about finding the problems before they turn into downtime.
If your equipment hasn’t been looked at yet this season, now’s the time.
