What is the difference between General Contractors and Restoration General Contractors?

- Traditional General Contractors mainly deal with new construction and remodeling work.

Restoration GC’s deal with property damage mitigation and repairs.

- General Contractors will give you an estimate or BID for the elective work you want done on your home.

Restoration GC’s work directly with your insurance company to provide an agreed upon and in-depth scope of repairs to put your home back to pre-loss condition. All you are responsible for is your deductible.

- General Contractors will bring in a crew to work on your elective new construction or remodeling project. It’s pretty straight forward.

Restoration GC’s have a lot of extra leg work that is done in the background, before the repairs can start. Such as, in-depth assessment of damages, writing a detailed repair estimate/ scope of work (using insurance approved estimating software), working directly with your insurance adjuster to come to an agreement on the scope of work and monetary payout to cover all damages. Finally, we get the approval from your insurance company, and then the repair work can begin.

There are other things that are sometimes required before repairs start as well. Such as, asbestos testing for suspect materials, and scheduling abatement if samples test positive for asbestos. Or working on permitting, when applicable. It sounds like a lot of work (and it is) but it’s all necessary to make the insurance approval process smoother!

- Restoration GC’s usually own all the necessary equipment to perform mitigation work. Such as, professional dehumidifiers, air movers, equipment to create containment, mold prevention and anti-microbial solutions, ozone and fogging equipment, and deodorizing agents.

Job Description:
NOW HIRING!!! Lead Carpenter/ Restoration Technician. Knowledge of remodel construction is required. Wage range is $28.00-$35.00 DOE. Jobs are typically within 30 miles of Chehalis. SANDRRL875OP. Typically, M-F 7:00am-3:30pm. We look forward to you joining our team!

Job Responsibilities:
• Completes projects on time for properties that have sustained fire, water, mold, hail, or wind damage
• Self-motivated and hardworking
• Conducts weekly quality and safe job site inspections.: (e.g.: quality workmanship, homeowner relationships, safety, cleanliness, and tradespeople conduct)
• Make a difference for others that have had a disaster strike their property
• Maintains an empathetic composure and shows a sense of urgency while communicating with customers and project manager
• Show up every day, on time, with a positive attitude
• Manage deadlines, progress, and quality on multiple projects simultaneously
• Secure and record all required project documentation such as work authorizations, change orders, and closeout documents
• Field customer questions and concerns and provide regular updates

Qualifications:
• 3+ Years of experience within the Restoration Industry and or Contruction trade
• Ability to effectively manage and communicate with co-workers, both internal and sub-contracted
• IICRC Certifications preferred- Water/Fire

***You must also have a current WDL and pass a criminal background check.

Here is one we just finished up! They needed their subfloor replaced under the cabinets from a water leak and they decided to do a little updating too. It sure looks great! We are very familiar with turning a restoration job into a partial remodel.

When the unthinkable happens, think of us! As we get closer to the fall/winter seasons when the winds pick up and rain/snow filled trees get stressed, remember this before and after. We got this job completed very quickly to get the renters back to their normal home life.

Another successful restoration job! The owners decided to go with a slightly different layout but we got their building back to a smoke free smell and got their break room back in order. We take care of all water, fire, wind, storm, etc... damage.
