I haven’t posted anything for several years here.

Good morning this frigid January 2nd 2018. It's -2 degrees here at my house and I was thinking about the 2nd. project that I am starting soon because of a broken water line and the water damage caused from them.
This is a professional tip for you, and please share this with your friends you will be doing them a favor. We all know that extremely cold weather can cause our water lines to freeze and burst. We take precautions and keep a lookout for problems. We keep an eye out for cold weather issues but I'm starting the 2nd home restoration project in 3 years where there was a mechanical problem in a supply line. While the homeowners were on vacation. 10,000+/- gallons of water from the second floor bathroom. Devastating effects on this home. Hindsight is always 20/20 almost everyone that goes on vacation including me, leaves the main water supply on.
TIP: Turn the main water supply off if you are not going to be home even overnight. It can save you a huge problem. Keep a look out for problems durring this cold time of year there's only so much you can do about cold weather issues, but do yourself a big favor locate your main water supply know how to turn it off and then as a precaution turn your water off when you go away overnight or on vacation. You can bet that is going to be a new item on my vacation check list. Private Message me for tips on cold weather precautions. Take care of yourselves and God Bless you.

Water and Bugs can damage buildings and you may not be able to see the extent until there are lots of repairs to make. Termites and Carpenter Ants. It might look like just a little damage on the surface. Carpenter Ants can cause as much damage as termites. Keep moisture and water out once you notice a problem fix it fast. It doesn't take long to get bad. This is a Saturday project that turned into a long day and a half repair. Water and ants did all this damage and we couldn't see how bad it was until I got into the removing the subfloor to make a small repair.
