Don't let your summer electric bill take you by surprise! ☀️⬇️

Hey neighbors! With the summer heat officially here, your AC is working overtime. Before you crank the thermostat down to freezing, try these 3 quick tips from the Patriot Services team to stay cool and save some cash:

The 20-Degree Rule: Your AC is designed to cool your home about 20°F lower than the outside temperature. Setting it to 65°F when it's 95°F outside won't cool the house faster—it just makes your system run constantly, driving up your bill!

Flip the Fan Switch: Check your ceiling fans. In the summer, they should rotate counter-clockwise to push a cool breeze straight down. (Bonus: This lets you set your thermostat a couple of degrees higher without losing comfort).

The 1-Month Filter Rule: A dirty filter blocks airflow, forcing your system to work twice as hard. Check it once a month and change it if it looks gray or dusty.

Is your AC blowing lukewarm or making strange noises? Don't sweat it out.

🚨 THE REASON YOUR DRAINS ARE RUNNING SLOW (It might not be what you think!) 🚨

Take a look at this. 😱 We recently had to completely replace a customer's drain line and P-trap because it was almost 100% blocked off.

The culprit? It actually started years ago during a tile remodel. A little bit of leftover grout was washed down the shower drain. Once that grout dried inside the pipe, it created a rough, jagged surface.

From there, it became a magnet for:
⚠️ Hard water minerals
⚠️ Hair
⚠️ Soap scum and grease

If you know Don, you know he is the guy every single company wishes they had. From fixing and maintaining all of our equipment to tackling the toughest plumbing, drains, and underground work, there is truly nothing Don can’t handle. 🛠️💧

But what makes Don even more special is his willingness to share that wealth of knowledge. He has been an incredible mentor to our younger technicians, taking them under his wing and showing them the ropes. Watching him pass down his expertise and help shape the next generation of techs is truly amazing to see.

When he’s not at work holding down the fort or teaching the team, you can guess exactly where to find him: fishing... period! 🎣🐟
