🪵 What is mill glaze and why should you care?
This week’s takes a closer look at something you may not even realize is on your wood. Mill glaze!
Mill glaze can form during high-speed milling when heat and mechanical compression create a hardened, glazed surface on logs, siding, and trim. The problem? That surface can interfere with the adhesion of stains and finishes. Meaning, even a great coating may not perform as expected if the wood isn’t properly prepared.
For exterior wood, proper cleaning and pressure washing can help remove mill glaze and prepare the surface for a lasting finish.
