Your lawn doesn’t need more seed.
It needs the right conditions for that seed to actually grow. 🌱

That’s where core aeration + overseeding comes in.

After a long summer, lawns in Upstate New York can take a beating.

Heat.

Foot traffic.

Mowing.

Dry weather.

Compacted soil.

And when soil gets compacted, grass roots have a harder time getting the air, water, and nutrients they need.

That’s why fall lawn aeration is such an important part of proper lawn care.

Core aeration removes small plugs of soil from the lawn.

Those openings help reduce compaction.

Improve water movement.

Increase oxygen in the root zone.

And create better conditions for stronger root growth.

But the real advantage?

Pairing aeration with overseeding.

Fresh grass seed has a much better chance of establishing when it has good seed-to-soil contact.

That helps fill in thin areas.

Improve turf density.

And build a thicker, healthier lawn going into next season.

For cool-season lawns, late summer and early fall are some of the best times for lawn renovation.

So if your lawn looks thin, tired, patchy, or compacted…

Don’t wait until spring to think about it.

Fall is when you start building next year’s lawn.

A few tips after overseeding:

Keep the newly seeded areas consistently moist.

Avoid heavy traffic while the new grass is establishing.

Don’t let the seed completely dry out during germination.

And give the new turf time to develop before winter.

A thicker lawn doesn’t happen by accident.

It starts with better soil.

Better roots.

And the right work at the right time.
