What's for dinner tonight? Pizza Pasta ππ
A new spin on a great dish!! Also, the best part is it's very easy and you only need one pan! π₯
β¨οΈWhat will you need:
Large cast iron pan
1 lb ground beef or ground sausage
1 large diced onion (optional)
4 cloves minced garlic (optional)
1 16 oz bag egg noodles
2 15 oz can plain tomato sauce ( store bought or home jarred)
2 to 2 1/2 cups water
Italian seasoning
Basil
Veggies all optional included below
Cottage cheese (optional)
1 lb block mozzarella cheese grated
Grated parmesean garnish
This a very versatile dish and pretty much anything can be substituted.
β¨οΈHow do you make it?
Start with an extra large cast iron skillet pre heated (you can use any pan you like, I just use cast iron for pretty much everything π
) , toss in your meat ground sausage is what I used but ground beef will work great too. Cook for a few minutes add diced onion and minced garlic (optional). Finish browning meat. Next grab a bag of egg noodles, two jars plain tomato sauce, and 2 to 2 1/2 cups water. Stir together in the pan. Now add 1 tsp Italian seasoning and 1/2 tsp of basil, 1 bag of pepperoni cut into halves, also now is the time to add any additional veggies desired. Some ideas include sliced peppers, sliced black olives, sliced mushrooms, diced eggplant, even diced zucchini! Go wild! π Stir it all together and bring to a very low boil. Place lid on pan. Meanwhile, shred your block of mozzarella cheese. After about 10 minutes stir your pasta. At this point you can decide if it needs more water. If most of the water is absorbed and your noodles are cooked through then add more water. This will vary depending on many things such as altitude, pan being used etc. Continue to cook for about another 10 minutes. After pasta reaches desired texture remove lid. Let sit for 5 minutes. Next, if using, dollop large spoonfuls of cottage cheese on top of pasta. Do not stir it in. Next, sprinkle all the mozzarella on top of the pasta. Place lid on top and allow cheese to melt for 5 to 10 minutes. After the cheese is melted it's time to enjoy! Feel free to sprinkle with parmesean cheese or extra black olives.
Hope you enjoy! π
