Kellar project- this client had an existing patio and outdoor kitchen built in 2022 but wanted to add on some more travertine patio space to make room for entertaining. The Essential Gardener was called upon and delivered. We matched up to the existing travertine and added a small retaining wall that doubles as a place for people to sit. Client loves it!!

Prices are going up on everything but that doesn’t mean you still can’t get some yardwork done! Mecklenburg County recycling centers have free mulch and high-quality compost for cheap! The Essential Gardener can deliver up to 5 yards at a time starting at $100 per trip depending on your location.

This mulch comes from the city and it is free to the public, but I will say it is what’s called “single-hammered” vs “double-hammered”. This just means that the wood is run through the shredder once for single hammered and then it’s run through again for double hammered. Single hammered is a little chunkier in style and is a good base layer or areas that aren’t really seen. The double hammered is a more finally shredded product. That looks the best if you want everything looking super nice. Both have their place, but I did just want to clarify that.

This person will preferably have landscaping experience, able to follow direction, able to drive a truck w/trailer and someone I can leave on site to get the job done the way I want it done. Cartier project. Client had a new home and no landscape. She was planning to spend a lot of time on her back deck and wanted an oasis with a natural laidback feel. We did a plan and installed phase 1. Rock paths leading to a small area of turf, perennial beds to attract pollinators for the raised beds, boulders, hostas, ferns and more. Can’t wait to see this garden in a few years! She’s happy.
