A recent project by the STC Cleaning Division involved restoring a massive 1,700 square foot synthetic turf putting green in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
When we arrived, the green was in severe condition. Heavy mold and algae buildup had spread throughout the surface, creating discoloration, odor, uneven playability, and a surface that was no longer suitable for practice. Moisture, shade, and long term debris buildup had all contributed to the problem.
This was not a simple rinse and go job. Our team completed a full inspection, removed debris across the entire surface, and carried out a controlled turf safe cleaning process designed to break down mold and algae without damaging the turf fibers or backing. Due to the size and condition of the green, this restoration required extensive labor and careful attention to detail.
Once complete, the putting green was restored to a clean, uniform, playable condition. Odors were eliminated, contamination was removed, and the surface was brought back to a condition suitable for regular use.
Synthetic turf is low maintenance, but it still needs proper care. In places like Chapel Hill and throughout North Carolina, routine professional cleaning can help prevent severe buildup and protect the long term performance of your turf.
If your synthetic turf is starting to show signs of mold, algae, odor, or heavy buildup, STC can help.
