DOWNTHEROAD - Hats off to the entire Ward team on this one. 🧢 Our Charlotte team built the bonnets bolted on either end while our Houston team took care of the main unit. Put them together and you have one exceptional horizontal heat exchanger that made for another happy customer. This job is a great representation of the teamwork, attention to detail, and careful craftsmanship that we put into each and every project. Fabricated up to standard and ready to perform in critical industry operations. 🔥🔥🔥 A huge THANKS to everyone involved for making this project a huge success!

DOWNTHEROAD - A collaborative effort from both of our shops to make for one happy customer. 🤝Our Charlotte shop taking the beginning stages with this unit and once the internal condensers were installed, this column was on its way to our Houston shop where they finished it up for shipping. This unit, not going too far from our Houston facility is going to play a critical role in industrial processes. Here at Ward, we value our team and value the work we produce. In this case, teamwork did the trick and got this unit shipped on time and up to standard. 🔥A huge THANKS to everyone involved for making this project a huge success!

In the latest episode of Forged in Focus, I sat down with Scott Draudt, Regional Sales Manager at New Castle Stainless Plate, LLC in New Castle, Indiana. Scott has been with the same mill since 1988, through every name it's worn along the way — from Avesta Sheffield to Outokumpu to today's fully American-owned New Castle Stainless Plate — and there's nobody better positioned to walk us through what it actually takes to turn a slab into finished plate.

We dug into the fundamentals fabricators deal with every day: the difference between quarto plate (PMP) and coil mill plate (CMP), why that distinction drives cost, gauge flexibility, and flatness tolerances, and what's really happening inside the mill during rolling, annealing, and pickling. Scott walked through the mill's deep history with duplex stainless — including their role developing the original "Code Plus Two" spec for 2205 back in the early '90s — and where grades like 2507 and 2101 fit into pressure vessel, heat exchanger, and even nuclear SMR work today.

We also talked quality culture (why service quality at the roll is the biggest source of variability), workforce development in a generational Indiana workforce, the push to get 2205 duplex approved for bridge infrastructure across multiple states, material surcharges and how mills manage nickel and chrome volatility, and what Scott learned walking the halls of Capitol Hill advocating for the pressure vessel and steel plate industry. If you work in fabrication, procurement, engineering, or pressure equipment and want a real look at what happens upstream at the mill before the plate ever reaches your shop, this episode is for you.

Great events are about more than exhibits, they're about connections.

The BIC Prime Expo gave our team the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, build new relationships, and have meaningful conversations with professionals from across the industry.

We were proud to showcase what makes Ward Vessel & Exchanger special: our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, responsiveness, and delivering solutions our customers can count on every day.

A sincere thank you to BIC Magazine for hosting another outstanding event and creating a space for the industry to come together. We appreciate everyone who stopped by to visit with our team, and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

In case you missed it🚨...

In the latest episode of Forged in Focus, I sat down with Stephen Borg of The Vogel Group to talk about the issues shaping American manufacturing and the importance of making the industry’s voice heard in Washington.

Stephen reflects on this year’s STI/SPFA Congressional Fly-In, which brought a record number of members to Capitol Hill. We discuss how consistent outreach is helping manufacturers build stronger relationships with congressional offices and why those relationships matter.

We break down the complexities of tariffs, including how certain protections benefit domestic material suppliers while leaving some U.S. fabricators exposed to lower-cost imported equipment. We also discuss trade enforcement, the Steel Act and the industry’s need for greater certainty.

The conversation covers ARPA funding for water infrastructure projects, the Dignity Act and the workforce shortage facing manufacturers. Stephen explains how legal pathways to work and expanded workforce training could help companies find skilled employees.

We also discuss the manufacturing skills gap, the value of technical careers and how industry leaders can introduce more young people to welding, fabrication and other trades. Stephen also explains why manufacturers believe a single national heat standard would not work for every shop, facility and jobsite.

We close with a look at the midterm elections and why manufacturers should continue building relationships with elected officials at home and in Washington.

If you build, manufacture or support America’s industrial infrastructure, this episode is for you.

Watching this massive slab come to life is nothing short of incredible. From 1 am until the sun goes down, these guys absolutely CRUSHED it, and this time-lapse video showcases it all. It captured the concrete pour and finishing work for our new 40,000 square foot Houston expansion. It's amazing to think that what you're seeing here will soon be home to more people, more projects, and more opportunities for our teammates at Ward.

A big shout-out to the teams at Maverick Development & Construction and Concrete Constructors. The coordination, craftsmanship, and hard work that go into a pour of this size are impressive to watch firsthand.

Can't wait to look back at this video a year from now when the building is full, the shop is busy, and this slab is supporting the next chapter of our growth story.

Exciting times ahead!

What Did You Do Today?🫵

Today, we made our Core Values more than just words.

At Ward, our culture is shaped by the people who choose to live out our Core Values every day. Our Culture Club members are Tomas Canchola, Bryan Roberts, Larry Doyle, Cuong Luu, and Eric Ramirez. Each one of them is dedicated to making sure those values are reflected in how we work, how we treat one another, and how we show up as a TEAM.

Through quarterly and yearly recognition, the Culture Club celebrates the Teammates who consistently demonstrate what it means to be Selfless, Passionate, and Consistent. They help create a culture where doing the right thing, supporting one another, and taking pride in our work doesn't go unnoticed.

Here at Ward, culture isn't something we simply talk about, it's something we build together, every day.

🔦Proud to put a spotlight on the people who make it happen.
