You see that cute little tree frog on the sunflower? This is a picture from one of our flower shed customers & this little guy hitched a ride to their house in their flower bouquet from our flower shed!

Lo and behold… we have had another flower shed customer that also had a tree frog stow away in her bouquet from the flower shed! 😆

Too funny! When we open up the stand on Friday’s, we often see a tree frog or two in the stand. Now we always laugh and say… y’all better now go hiding in someone’s bouquet!!

Sunflowers 🌻…. It’s August & yes we are still starting sunflower seeds. The sunflower seeds started this week, if all goes well, will be blooming the week of October 19th! My future self will thank me! Sunflowers, on average & variety dependent, take about 55 days to bloom.

This was a crazy weekend with that storm that blew through on Friday! Bob & I spent Saturday reinforcing our netting and standing flowers back up! I think we were able to save most of the flowers!

🌺 If that storm wasn’t cray enough, ya’ll sold us OUT at Stegall Produce Market on Friday!! 🎉 We had to restock on Saturday morning! Thank you so much for shopping local, supporting our farm and Stegall’s Market! If you haven’t stopped by Stegall Produce Market, you need to make a point to stop by their store. They have so many amazing local products!

🌺 Saturday ya’ll were at it again! You sold us out by 11am! We weren’t expecting that fun situation. Luckily we had flowers we could cut. Sorry for the couple of you who drove in while the stand was empty. We were working as quickly as possible to get more bouquets made. We did a quick restock and those went fairly quickly as well. You all are awesome! Thank you!

🌺 As crazy as Saturday was, the temperature stayed slightly cooler with 1010% humidity! Please check on your friends that work outdoors! We may have fallen as we hydroplane on our sweat 🤣

It’s bouquet making day!

This video is actually from last week. I can tell you, I have gotten a bit quicker at making bouquets but it’s know I still fuss with them a little too much. I start to over think things and then I slow the process down! When you have a lot of bouquets to get made, slowing the process down is not what you want to do 🤣 but yet I do it every time 🤦🏼‍♀️ I wish I had the ability of the talented florist I sell to! I have so much respect for them! They make this flower arranging look so easy…. It is not easy!!

This is Celosia. This is a beautiful warm season annual flower in the amaranth family. These vivid flowers come in many colors and shapes. We are growing this gorgeous cockscomb variety this year. I love the unique shape and vivid color in bouquets. Celosia also dry well and hold this vivid color when they are dried. If you spy Celosia in your bouquet, before you are done with your bouquet, grab the celosia & hang it upside down to dry!

When we are cutting sunflowers, the sunflowers that already have bug damage we leave out in the field for the birds and the pollinators. We feel like if we know we can’t use the flower, we may as well let it go to good use out in the field.

It is always fun to walk past these flowers and see all the various pollinators enjoying these imperfect flowers.
