This group of sunflowers looks funny now that they are the only thing growing in the upper garden. šŸ˜†

When I planted these sunflowers, the garden was packed full of flowers. These were leftovers from another row that I filled up with sunflowers & didnā€™t have enough space for these. I searched for any empty space and found this little spot. I was so happy to find a spot to get these sunflowers in the field.

Now this little lone group looks lost and out of place. I promise I had a reason behind why I have a few random small groups of sunflowers in different areas of the garden. It looks a bit crazy now but it made sense when the garden was as packed full šŸ˜† I mean one can never have enough sunflowers!

October is planting month!

So much to do in the garden to clean up from summer and get ready for incoming seedlings. As we finish rows, we lay down irrigation and support netting. These things are not typically used over the winter months. We have learned that it is SO much easier if we lay these items down first so they are in place when we do need them in the spring.

Spring is SO busy that any time we can save ourselves now is such a bonus!

Flipping more rows to get ready for fall planting.

Today we made MORE work for ourselves. Never a dull moment when working in the garden. It seems we always run into one problem or another.

We got the rows fixed and now we have 4 more rows ready for planting!

šŸŒ»Take up irrigation, netting & cut down anything that is left to cut down
šŸŒ»Spread gypsum (for strong stems & fertilizer)

Letā€™s tackle one of our weediest rows! (Forgot to start the phone prior to mowing šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø) Just take my word for it, the weeds were thick!

This is one of our shorter rows but it definitely took a while to tackle this row! It looked so much better when we were done. When we go to plant out the seedlings it will be so nice to have all this work already DONE!

Well the fields gave us all they could in the hot, dry season and now they decided to call it quits. All the planning & the weather still has the final say so. We just donā€™t have enough flowers to keep the stand open any longer.

We are presently flipping rows and getting the field ready for fall planting. Fall planting around here meansā€¦ planting spring flowers. These seedlings we plant now will be overwintered & God willing they will bloom earlier and taller in spring 2027!

The Flower Shed is closed for the season! The fields gave us as much as they could but the hot, dry summer took us out earlier than expected. It happens that way sometimes.

Pivot to getting rows ready for ALL the spring flowers coming THIS month! We are super busy trying to get things ready to plant. Yes we plant spring flowers now. They over winter to grow strong roots so they will bloom earlier and taller in the spring! Let the planting begin!
