👃 **They can sense you coming.** Ticks use cues like carbon dioxide, body heat, moisture, and vibrations to help locate a potential host.

🩸 **You may never feel the bite.** Tick saliva contains compounds that can help reduce pain and interfere with your body’s normal response while they feed.

⏳ **They can go a LONG time without eating.** Depending on the species and life stage, some ticks can survive many months between blood meals.

🍂 **Tick season doesn't end when summer does!** Ticks can remain active well into the fall—and some species can even be active after the first frost when temperatures are mild enough.

🚨 WHAT is that giant wasp dragging a cicada across the yard?! 😳

Meet the Cicada Killer 🐝

If you’re seeing massive-looking wasps flying low to the ground, digging holes, and kicking up dirt in your lawn—you’re probably seeing cicada killers.

And this video shows exactly why they got their name! 👀

Female cicada killers hunt cicadas, paralyze them, drag or fly them back to their underground burrow, and lay an egg on them. When the egg hatches, the cicada becomes a food source for the developing larva.

A few things to know:

🐝 They may look intimidating, but they are generally NOT aggressive toward people.
🕳️ Their burrowing can create noticeable holes and piles of soil in lawns and landscaping.
☀️ They especially like sunny areas with dry, loose or sandy soil.
