Edifice Educates: Building Leaders

This week, Chief Operating Officer Josiah Goins joined our interns for a conversation about leadership, growth, and the experiences that have shaped his 22-year career in construction. As COO, Josiah focuses on maintaining consistent, excellent project delivery across Edifice Construction through training, developing best practices, hiring, supporting employee growth, and retention.

His message highlighted the value of leading with purpose, building strong relationships, and considering the broader impact of our actions, lessons that extend far beyond the jobsite and into everyday leadership.

The Sharon at SouthPark broke ground on Belmore and the Weisiger Center for Vibrant Living to begin a new phase of growth. Belmore, containing 64 new independent living apartments, and the Weisiger Center for Vibrant Living, a 52,000 SF fitness facility, are an investment in vitality and well-being for current and future residents of The Sharon.

Working with The Sharon’s sales and marketing team on this new development, our construction technology team created virtual models of each individual apartment so prospective residents could visualize their new living space, complete with seasonal views through the windows. The virtual buildout in turn helped the construction team plan site logistics minimizing the impact to an active campus.

“We selected Edifice not only because of their expertise, but because of who they are. Their culture, values, and commitment to people align closely with our own, and we are grateful to have them as part of this journey," said CEO Angela Rigsbee at the groundbreaking event.

Edifice Educates: Building Leaders

Brittian Blaylock, director of construction technology, recently shared with our interns how technology is transforming the construction process. Working alongside preconstruction and field teams, Brittian and his team use industry-leading technology to help identify potential issues, improve project visibility, and create detailed records that support clients long after construction is complete.

His message encouraged interns to never stop asking why. By looking beyond the task at hand and understanding the purpose behind the work, teams can uncover new opportunities for innovation, strengthen problem-solving skills, and make a lasting impact on every project they touch.

The ribbon has been cut, and the Middle Tyger Education Center is officially open! This new 48,000 SF facility offers a variety of education, play, and childcare spaces for more than 250 children ranging from infants through preschool-age, providing affordable, accessible childcare for this previously underserved community. Beyond education and care, the Middle Tyger Education Center hosts spaces for multi-generational counseling and family support services. We are proud to have helped bring this project to life and support Middle Tyger families, Spartanburg School District 5, and the entire Duncan, SC community.

Edifice Educates: Building Leaders

This week, Education Market Leader Ryan Lefebvre joined our interns to discuss the experiences, challenges, and opportunities that have shaped his career in construction. As a market leader, Ryan provides strategic oversight for projects, guiding budgets, schedules, subcontractor and supplier coordination, document control, and communication between project stakeholders from kickoff through closeout.

Drawing from more than 20 years in the construction industry, Ryan shared how many of the opportunities that shaped his career came from stepping beyond his comfort zone. He encouraged our interns to embrace new challenges, remain open to learning, and view growth as a continuous process that benefits both individuals and the teams around them.

Thank you to everyone who attended the groundbreaking ceremony for ’s new Health and Human Services (HHS) / Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Building! 👏

The ceremony commemorated the start of construction for the new four-story, 140,000 square foot building at the Government Center in Bolivia. Once complete, the building will upgrade and house multiple county services provided by county departments including Health Services, Social Services, Environmental Health, Public Housing, Emergency Management, and Veterans Services.

ACTS Retirement-Life Communities Southeast recently broke ground on the Park Pointe Village Expansion in Rock Hill, SC. This addition plans to add 109 acres to the campus, as well as more than double the community’s current offerings.

The additions featured in this project will include new residential units in various styles, a dining venue, and both indoor and outdoor amenity spaces such as an 18,000 SF clubhouse, walking trails, and pickleball courts.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support Rock Hill’s plans in providing an enriching senior living experience throughout the community while generating new jobs and positive economic impact in the region.
