North Carolina, and Charlotte specifically, consistently rank in the top areas for business and population growth in the country, year over year. As the area continues to attract diverse industries, both public and private entities are investing in expansion to absorb the growth while retaining the advantages and popular aspects of the region. Edifice Construction’s CEO Gary Creed spoke with Invest Charlotte on his outlook for the next two to three years.

“My priorities remain consistent. I want us to keep looking ahead, make sure we have the right people in the right places, and stay proactive,” Gary said, “I am optimistic about the Carolinas in general, and I am equally optimistic about Edifice’s future here.”

We celebrated a major milestone for St. John’s Fire District as we broke ground on the new Station 5. Designed to support both daily operations and training, the facility will feature modern living accommodations, expanded training space, a new training prop, and improved site infrastructure to better serve the community and support the firefighters. We look forward to seeing this project take shape and the lasting impact it will have for the District for years to come.

The City of Concord celebrated the groundbreaking of their new communication and emergency operations center among City officials and the staff that will inhabit the new space.

The 9,000 SF, ground-up facility will be built adjacent to Fire Station No. 3, which remains active during construction. With new work areas, conference rooms, training spaces, and emergency management systems, the construction will require 250 cubic yards of concrete, equivalent to 25 trucks, and 65,000 bricks to wrap the exterior. With mission critical emergency communications, mechanical and electrical systems feature built-in redundancy to keep the City connected and responsive despite any adverse conditions. To ensure developing construction does not impede the fire station’s emergency response, this Design-Build project required extensive planning and coordination with the City.

Construction is anticipated to complete in September 2027.

Graceway Baptist Church wrapped up their Phase II of their masterplan with a grand opening service. The new Graceway Life Center, an 18,625 SF building, consists of:
• a large multi-purpose room, which allows Graceway to double their worship capacity
• expanded children’s space for Graceway’s growing families
• various site improvements

The construction team, consisting of Mike Adams, Jonathan Mace, Tim Clark, and Bryan Knupp, received appreciation awards from Graceway for not only, completing their project but building an excellent experience for their building committee, leadership, and members.

The completion of this project ushers in the next season of ministry at Graceway. Congratulations!

We were honored to welcome Mayor William Cogswell to the City of Charleston, SC Government Operations Complex site, where he got a firsthand look at the progress underway on the 14-acre campus. Once complete, the facility will bring together the City's Traffic & Transportation, Public Services, and Capital Projects divisions in a centralized hub designed to support Charleston's growth and daily operations for years to come.

With the launch of Invest: Charlotte 6th Edition, Edifice Construction’s Healthcare Market Leader Chris Socha spoke at the Leadership Summit and launch party on a panel with Charlotte’s anchor institutions in the healthcare and higher education space.

“Change in healthcare systems is inevitable,” Chris said, “When looking at their facility needs, healthcare systems need to ensure the costly components of their building are not just built for their needs now, but to account for their future.”

ULI South Carolina hosted a project spotlight event at GE Vernova Park, home of the Greenville Triumph SC and Greenville Liberty. The project, built by Edifice Construction, hosted the first home game in June and is nearly complete on the Greenville Pro Soccer locker rooms. The panel was moderated by Edifice’s Lindsay Harris Larson with project stakeholders from the City of Mauldin SC Government, Hughes Investments, Johnston Design Group and the Greenville Triumph discussing how the development will impact the growing mixed-use district. Edifice is committed to growing with the Upstate by delivering projects that make a lasting impact on local communities.
