In 1999, armed with an Electrical Engineering degree, 14 years of business experience with Hoechst Celanse and a restless entrepreneurial spirit, Francisco Alvarado decided to embark in a new venture and Marand Builders, Inc was established. Since the conception of Marand, our goal has been to understand the individual needs of our customers and provide them with a customized solution. We have built our reputation on reliability, attentiveness and quality of execution. We succeed when we have provided our clients with the best construction experience. We started in Charlotte, NC, but rapidly expanded to cover the Carolinas, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast US regions. We have offices in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Our team of highly talented professionals has allowed us to become a preferred vendor with many of our clients, exceeding 95% repeat business. Meet Sulamita Pereira, Marand Scholar and Project Engineer.

Sulamita earned her Construction Management degree from Central Piedmont, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. While completing her degree, she gained valuable hands-on industry experience through a one-year co-op with Marand Builders, helping her transition from the classroom into a career in construction.

When she graduated, she joined our team full-time. Today she's a Project Engineer helping deliver projects for our clients.

Her path is exactly why the Marand Builders Scholarship Fund exists: invest in talented and deserving students, support their education, and open doors that last well beyond graduation.

It's also why we keep hosting our Annual Scholarship Fund Clay Shoot. Every sponsor, partner, shooter, and volunteer who shows up makes stories like Sulamita's possible.

Last Friday, our Mid-Atlantic team rolled up their sleeves for Hammers & Ales, an annual fundraiser and volunteer event for Richmond ToolBank. Together, our team hand-built benches that will be donated to the local school district, helping create safe, welcoming spaces for students and the community.
