Thank you to everyone who joined us at Lark Brewing Co. for Scott-Long’s subcontractor and supplier Meet & Greet with American Subcontractors Association of Metro Washington.

It was a great afternoon of conversation, connection, and discussion around upcoming opportunities.

We’re grateful for the subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners who continue to help make strong projects possible.

Cool work. Literally.

Progress continues on the Cooling Towers Replacement Project at Valley Health Wi******er Medical Center.

Recently, our team poured the structural concrete pad for the west stair tower. In these photos, Riddleberger Brothers Inc. is setting the remaining cooling towers while Scott-Long finishes up the steel and bolting connections.

Cooling towers do important behind-the-scenes work, helping remove heat from the building’s mechanical systems.

Some buildings carry more than history. They carry legacy.

Calvin T.S. Brent, often recognized as Washington’s first African American architect, helped shape communities across DC through the churches, homes, and spaces he designed in the late 1800s.

That legacy still stands today, and it carries a lot of meaning to our team. One of our own team members attends Mount Jezreel, and Scott-Long recently completed renovation work at the Church of the Advent (formerly Third Baptist Church), helping continue the story of another space tied to his impact on the city.

More than a century later, Brent’s influence can still be seen throughout Washington, DC. It’s a legacy we’re proud to recognize, especially through places that still connect to our team and our work.

65 years calls for a celebration. The Scott-Long team came together for a little friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and a reminder of what makes this company special: the people.

We work hard, keep growing, and know how to have fun along the way.

Here’s to 65 years of Scott-Long! 🎉

Setting steel for the new cooling towers at Valley Health Wi******er Medical Center. This phase includes demoing existing steel and installing new, all while coordinating crane access and working within an active campus.

With a push to get the towers online before warmer weather, the team is keeping things moving. Next up: stair tower footings, er****on, and new catwalk installation.

In partnership with Riddleberger Brothers.

65 years ago, Scott-Long Construction began as Bruce Scott Construction, taking on projects like a carport, a custom bookshelf, an office supply store, and a church.

Today, our work spans faith-based & healthcare campuses, multifamily housing, and other institutional & commercial projects across many sectors.

But what matters most has stayed the same. Bruce Scott built this company on a simple belief: People are Important.

That belief still guides how we build, how we communicate, and how we show up for our clients, partners, and team. Because at Scott-Long, success has never been just about what we build. It’s about how we build it, and who we build it with.

Here’s to 65 years of building with purpose, growing with intention, and honoring the people who made it possible.

From “how are we going to pull this off?” → this.

Originally built in the 1860s, this church got a full renovation while preserving the details that matter. Big shoutout to Chris Muldowney, Luis Serpas, Pedro Merino, Juan Carlos Rivas, and Chrissy Facello for bringing this one across the finish line.

This is what excellence looks like in action.

“Trust yourself sooner.”

Project Engineer Tracy Mullins wants you to know that not having all the knowledge or experience doesn’t mean you don’t belong in construction.

She didn’t plan on this career, but once she got into it, she found exactly what she was looking for: problem-solving, variety, and the satisfaction of seeing something you worked on actually get built.

Her advice? Trust yourself, stay curious, and let confidence come with experience.
