Spent part of our morning at Grand Design Floors in Maple Grove! Our Fridley clients are finishing out their basement laundry room, and we were able to find a glue down LVP that will work seamlessly with the tile outside the room!

What we love about Grand Design Floors is for one, their huge selection, but they also have an entire binder with paint colors and their team is so knowledgeable! We went in with a general idea, and came out with a plan.

A fun morning all around!

Demo day is the LAST thing that happens before construction — not the first.

Before anyone swings a hammer in your basement or bathroom, the following is already done:

→ Your scope is written out trade by trade.
→ Your selections are made and locked. Tile, vanity, lighting, fixtures. Not "we'll figure that out in week three."
→ Your price is set. Not a range. Not an estimate.
→ Your completion date is set and communicated, and our team is booked against it.
→ You have a portal login that shows exactly where your project sits, any day you want to look.

Most of the stress in a remodel isn't the dust. It's knowing what next week looks like.

We only build basements and bathrooms. That's the reason we can tell you what yours costs before we pull any nails.

Most remodel bids handle doors, trim, and hardware in one line: Install new doors and trim throughout.

Then four weeks in, a truck shows up with six hollow-core slabs and 2-1/4" colonial casing — and that's when you find out what's going into your brand new space. You may be happy. You may not be.

We don't work that way.

Before demo ever starts, you already know:

Doors — Solid core or hollow core. Panel profile. Which direction every single one swings. Primed and painted on site, or pre-finished.

Trim — The exact casing and base profile, by name and by width. Whether it matches the rest of your house or intentionally doesn't. The paint and sheen.

Hardware — Lever or k**b. Passage, privacy, or dummy. And the hinges in that same finish, because a matte black lever on a satin nickel hinge is something you'll notice every day for the next twenty years.

That's three items of MANY we go through when planning your basement finish or bathroom remodel.

We're not your average remodel handyman. We're a design-build firm with a process. Every material, every finish, every decision gets made, documented, and priced before our team arrives for demo day.

Because a fixed price only means something if the scope behind it is real.

Clarity is key. Visit www.LarsonCustom.com to set up your project site visit.

It's demo day for our clients in Anoka!

This is a small bathroom that's going to undergo a huge transformation. We're doing a full gut remodel that's going to include a custom vanity, Onyx shower system, deeper bath tub, and an overall complete change you wont want to miss!

Before you hire someone for your basement finish or bathroom remodel, ask these 5 questions. 👇

A remodeling project is a big investment, and the contractor you choose can make or break how the experience feels from start to finish.

Here are five questions worth asking before you sign a contract:

1. Is the price fixed, or should I expect additional costs along the way?
Make sure you understand what’s included, what isn’t, and how changes are handled.

2. Who will manage the project and coordinate the trades?
Remodeling involves a lot of moving parts—different trades, deliveries, inspections and scheduling changes. Make sure you know who is coordinating everything, solving problems as they come up, and keeping you informed along the way.

3. Who handles permits and inspections?
A good contractor will be able to clearly explain what’s required and who is responsible for it.

4. How will selections and design decisions be handled?
Ask whether you’ll have guidance, deadlines and a clear process for choosing materials and finishes.

5. How will you communicate with me throughout the project?
Knowing when people are arriving, what’s happening next and whether the schedule has changed shouldn’t be a guessing game.

The finished space matters, but so does the experience of getting there. ✨

Something we include with every remodel project is custom 3D renders.

We start out with general selections at the beginning to get a sense of space and size options...then, as things like vanity, faucet, lighting, colors etc are chosen, we update the renders to show you how your new space is coming along. We can even try out different paint colors to make sure we achieve a cohesive look!

The renders are never able to get exact finishes, but we can come pretty darn close!

Ready to get started on your remodel? You can fill out our contact form and get on our schedule all through our website. Luke and Kristen would love to meet with you.
