This part of the prep was smooth with the LEVEL5 Tools compound roller. It really helps get an even coat of the compound to skim. As one mentor told me, Surface preparation is the key to quality. A light sand and a primer coat will have this wall ready for paint.

Honey oak trim can take over a space. Some customers look for an alternative. I painted this railing and spindles black to make a bold statement when you walk in the door.

This color is perfect for the fall season, or even the holiday season. Your front door doesn’t always have to be black, brown, or beige. This really upgraded the outside of this cabin. Put any front door color recommendations in the comments!

Hi, I’m Tyler. This is my painting account. I’ve been fortunate to have had mentors in my life that lead me down a path of hard work and self reliance. I love working with my hands, and being able to transform peoples homes and leave them better than I found it. I get satisfaction at the end of each day, and each job. There’s good and bad days with any job, but I love what I do. My goal is to show you what I do on a daily basis, the tools I use and recommend, and all the colors. I hope this helps anyone attempting their own painting project, or inspires someone to get into the trades or start their own business. Follow along for all the painting content.

It’s a small point, but if you’re not used to painting and you see your cut line is lighter than what’s on the wall. It’s nothing to panic about. Most paints will dry darker as it goes and you will get a true look for what the color actually is. Trust the process!

It’s been 20 years since this wainscoting has been painted. It was time to pull out the Graco Quickshot to give this woodwork new life. A modern color that pairs well with whites and hardwood floors. This is part one of this room’s renovation.
