Cathodic Protection (CP) is a technique used to control the corrosion of a metal surface by making it the cathode of an electrochemical cell. What is AC mitigation? Centralizers are standard on many deep anode groundbed installations. So why doesn't MATCOR use them on the Durammo®?

It comes down to geometry and math, not preference.

A typical Durammo assembly — continuous MMO wire anode, integral 1" vent pipe, and two #8 AWG lead cables — occupies less than 15% of an 8" borehole. That leaves over 6 inches of clearance for the coke breeze to flow and settle freely.

Compare that to a string of twelve 2.2" HSCI anodes in the same 8" hole: each anode occupies ~27.5% of the bore diameter.

Once discrete rigid anodes cross the 25–30% threshold, centralizers stop being a precaution and become a mechanical necessity.
