What We Did Wednesday 👷 | Lacona, NY

18 precast pieces. A 300-ton crane. 14 hours of precision.

Our crew recently completed the installation of precast footers, high-span units, and wing walls supplied by Fort Miller Precast on our Lacona project.

Precision was critical from the very beginning. The footers had to be accurately laid out to allow the high-span units to fit into the shear keys, with just 3 inches of total allowable tolerance.

Steel spacers were used between the footers and the backs of the walls to ensure each piece aligned flush with the next.

Working alongside J&J Construction & Rigging, Inc. and their 300-ton crane, our team set all 18 pieces over the course of a 14-hour operation.

A coordinated effort that required careful planning, precise ex*****on, and teamwork from start to finish.

🍁 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT | Meet Jamie!

Around Maple Ridge Civil, you might know him better as "Part Time!” 🚛

Jamie is one of our truck drivers, bringing a laid-back personality and a friendly attitude to the MRC team. He might not be the loudest guy in the room, but he's certainly someone you'll enjoy getting to know!

When he's not behind the wheel, there's a good chance you'll find Jamie enjoying the outdoors. Whether he's camping, fishing, hunting, or riding his motorcycle, he's happiest spending time outside and taking things at his own pace.

But above all, family comes first. Jamie and his wife, Crystal, have a daughter, Kaylee, who he considers his greatest accomplishment. And when fall rolls around, you can bet he'll be catching some college football and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs! 🏈

We're glad to have Jamie as part of the Maple Ridge Civil family!

What We Did Wednesday 🌲

Last Friday in Syracuse, our team planted a 30-foot Eastern White Pine in honor of the Onondaga Nation at the new aquarium taking shape in Syracuse.

The tree was supplied by Northern Nurseries with Hueber-Breuer Construction Co. serving as the prime contractor on the aquarium project.

A special thank you to Superintendent Scott Call for his coordination and support in making this installation happen.

We’re proud to play a role in a project that will bring something entirely new to the Central New York community—and especially proud to have been part of this meaningful addition to the site.

Sometimes meeting a demanding schedule means doing things differently. 👷‍♂️

With only 35 days to complete the Route 26 project, our crew worked Saturday to backfill both sides of the newly installed culvert simultaneously using select fill and embankment material.

Frequent compaction checks throughout the process help confirm proper installation and prevent uneven settling as the project moves closer to completion.

A strong team effort during the final stretch of a demanding schedule.

Ever wonder what these are doing along a job site? 👀

This is a sediment filter log, one of the erosion and sediment control measures used during construction.

When soil is disturbed, rainwater and runoff can carry sediment away from the work area. Sediment filter logs help slow runoff and capture sediment, keeping disturbed soil from traveling into surrounding areas and waterways.

It may look like a small part of the job, but erosion and sediment control plays an important role in protecting the surrounding environment throughout construction.

Doing the job right means paying attention to what happens outside the limits of the work, too.

As part of a 35-day shutdown of Route 26, our crew worked through the installation of this precast culvert system alongside J&J Crane.
