🔥 Grilling This Labor Day Weekend? Read This First! 🍔
Labor Day weekend is a great excuse to fire up the grill, gather with family, and enjoy the last stretch of summer. Before you start cooking, take a few minutes to make sure your grill is set up safely.
Here are a few quick grilling safety tips:
1️⃣ Give Your Grill Some Space
Keep your grill at least 10 feet away from your home, siding, deck railings, and anything else that could catch fire.
2️⃣ Check Your Grill Before You Light It
Look for grease buildup, damaged hoses, loose connections, or anything that doesn't look quite right. A little maintenance can go a long way.
3️⃣ Keep the Area Clear
Move paper products, decorations, towels, outdoor furniture, and other flammable items away from the grill.
4️⃣ Never Leave It Unattended
Grill fires can spread quickly. Keep an eye on the grill while it's in use and make sure children and pets stay at a safe distance.
5️⃣ Know How to Handle a Grease Fire
If a grease fire starts, never use water. Turn off the burners if it is safe to do so and keep the lid closed. If the fire continues or you're unable to control it, get everyone to safety and call 911.
6️⃣ Give It Time to Cool
Make sure your grill is completely cool before covering it or moving it. If you're using charcoal, follow the manufacturer's guidance for safely disposing of the ashes.
A few extra minutes of preparation can help keep your Labor Day weekend focused on good food, good company, and good memories—not a trip to the fire department. ❤️
Enjoy the long weekend, and grill safe! 🔥
