Custom 24' floating shelf built by Andrew Gutt of me, for Renewal by Andersen-Austin as an award display. The walls are aluminum stud-frame. It was a challenge to make it as sturdy as we wanted, but it held approximately 200lbs without so much as a twitch. Lumber was poplar, finish came out slick

If you snap chalk lines from the middle, you're a du***ss. If you sink screws past the head, you're a du***ss. If you don't own your own hand tools within 6 mo- 1yr after entering your chosen trade, you're a ju**ie, and a du***ss. If you leave a jobs site worse than you found it, you're the worst kind of human, and aa du***ss. If you cut to the nearest 1/8", or 1/4" because, "it's rough opening/ framing", you're not welcome, and please don't have kids. If you are cut-man, and you still haven't learned where&when you need to +/- 1 1/2", 3 1/2", etc, YOU'RE NOT A CUT-MAN! If you're in any trade for 2+ yrs, and you still have to wait for instructions to start, move to next phase or complete said task, you're a du***ss. If you don't know the difference between plumb & level, you're a du***ss. If you think flat & level are the same, you're a du***ss. If you think you're the smartest person on site, you've always been a du***ss, and will never have any technique. If your payroll check has EVER bounced, or your hands had to pursue you in any way for payment, you're the cockroach we all want to see squished. If you've ever hired illegals and paid them a miserable wage, you should be deported with them. That is all for today.
Measure twice, cut once.
If it ain't your gd hammer, leave it where it is.

This leak was caused by a local renowned replacement window company. They improperly train their 3rd party contractors, then when you experience something like this, they blame you, the homeowner.
I worked for them for several years, correcting these mistakes, RIGHT AFTER INSTALL. Windows and doors not flashed properly, if at all. So wrong that they literally CREATE a negative drainage plane, or water dam. The windows are very expensive, and the company I'm referring to is very popular, and offers elite products and service all under one umbrella. Hopefully this post makes sense to those that have these windows and doors installed in their homes, and I would like those people to feel free to reach out... I know how you can be "made whole", and I understand your warranty and service agreement.

I gotta say, SawStop, I'm impressed. I bet I can still use the blade.

Thinking about replacing your windows or exterior doors? Some things to consider: a good install/installer can make a mediocre window perform well. A bad install can not only negate the performance of the window, but can lead to major issues. ANY TIME YOU REMOVE & REPLACE A DOOR OR WINDOW, you interrupt the drainage plane of the your home's building envelope. If the flashing isn't installed CORRECTLY, it's just going to become a basin to catch and collect moisture/water and IT WILL CAUSE DAMAGE. To date, there is NO SEALANT, COATING, ETC that stands up to ponding water- it ALWAYS finds it's way in. Make sure your rep understands what he's selling you-dont be duped. Ask questions and voice your concerns LONG BEFORE day of installation because, regardless of what you were promised, your HOME WILL BE A CONSTRUCTION SITE temporarily-be prepared. Different brands = different materials and features. Homeowners have plenty to choose from. The only recommendation I have- gas fill windows. They perform much better in all conditions.
