BUSTED FORECASTS TODAY!

THE MODELS AND DATA DID NOT HANDLE TODAY'S TEMPS WEST OF THE CASCADES WELL AT ALL.

MEDFORD HAS TIED THE ALL TIME HIGHEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED AT 115. THIS RECORD IS GOING TO FALL TODAY.

PORTLAND SETS NEW HIGHEST ALL TIME TEMP RECORDED FOR THIRD DAY IN A ROW. PORTLAND ALSO AT 115.

Models and the data they produce can be wonderful things. But, they can only give us an idea of what we can expect. And west of the Cascades today we just did not have good direction at all from them. Busted forecasts are going to happen. Fact of life.

Today I just wish the buist would have resulted in much lower than expected temps not hotter. And really wish the Red Flag conditions for the Lava Fire in Siskiyou County would have busted. They did not. They are every bit as bad as predicted they would be. And that fire is ripping sending a huge plume of smoke now up into Southern Oregon.

Highway 97 is now closed between W**d and the Oregon border due to the fire. Level 3/Mandatory evacuation orders now extend as far west as the Montague area.
