Your home may be the most valuable investment you make in this lifetime! One way to protect that investment is to consider metal roofing. For northern California and Pacific Northwest winter weather, a metal roof often outperforms a standard asphalt shingle roof for climate specific reasons:
1. Moss, algae, and rot resistance
* If your climate is damp and shady much of the year, an asphalt shingled roof can create a hospitable space where moss, algae, and lichen can grow - wIthout seasonal maintenance, this can shorten an asphalt shingled roof’s lifespan as well as cause leaks.

* PNW storms can bring strong wind and heavy rain.
* Metal panels are usually rated for higher wind speeds and are less likely to lose pieces than shingles, which can lift, crack, or blow off.
