With over 25 years experience in the trades, whether commercial or residential, your imagination....can be built. Hodgson and I am a Journeyman Custom Trim Carpenter coming with over 25 years combined experience in the trades, including both residential and commercial Carpentry. My father, a now retired union Carpenter with over 40 years experience, and being raised in the Fingerlakes region of NY
has provided me with a solid foundation in this field that has helped me to grow as a person and as a professional tradesman. After graduation from high school in 1991, I apprenticed with my father for five years and did discover that I had a knack and passion for skilled trade work. Shortly (5 years) thereafter, however, I joined the United States Navy to play a part in something bigger and more important than myself. In the Navy, as an Operation Specialist 2nd Class Petty Officer (E-5) in the Combat Direction Center (CDC) of the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67), I specialized in radar operation, navigation, data encryption, and both secure and unsecure communications (ship-ship, ship-shore, ship-aircraft). Establishing and maintaining efficient and effective communication was of top priority in ensuring the safety of our travels and our aircraft launches/landings aboard the carrier. As I climbed the ranks, I made my “home” up in the Commanding Officers Tactical Plot (COPlot) of the ship. Here, I supervised a dedicated team that worked efficiently in high-stress situations to accomplish a common mission. I continue to learn from my military experience even to this day. In 2001, I left the Navy to resume my career in Carpentry, in hopes of settling down and starting a family. Although I didn’t choose to make my service a career, I found precisely what I had been looking for in the Armed Forces and my patriotism plays a big factor in the man I am today. I am a mission-oriented individual and I appreciate the feeling of accomplishment that comes with conquering a task or completing a project with hands-on results. A few years ago, my wife's parents failing health prompted us to move back East from the Northwest Valley of Phoenix, AZ to be closer to them. In doing this, we have found a new home here in Centerville, TN. I have been and am currently working in the local high end custom trim and cabinet business partnering with a few local cabinet companies (one of which I was employed for 3 years before going out on my own). In this work, I have found where my true passion lies. Throughout my professional development, I have truly enjoyed diversity in the work I perform and love the challenge it provides. One of my gifts is trouble-shooting, which tends to come in handy among various trades. I am versatile and adapt well and easily into most any role that allows me to work with my hands to solve a problem or accomplish a tangible task. There isn’t much I cannot do or quickly learn to do. I bring a variety of abilities and skills to the table, but I also bring solid values: Character, Integrity, Respect, Honor, Commitment, Patience, and a strong work ethic. These are the things that rarely come across well in a resume, a cold call, a website, or even sometimes a referral (which is where I get a majority of my work through), but that I hope will emanate in an interview opportunity if you chose me to take a look at your dream project. Furthermore, I am enthusiastic and look forward to tackling any challenges you may have for me. I come fully equipped with my own tools which cover most of the trades dealt with in construction. I am very fluent in electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, tile, and concrete; with carpentry –framing, trim (base, case, crown, etc ), stairs, built-ins (master / pantry closets & E.T. Centers), cabinetry install, LED lighting, and door / window installs ……. these are some of my specialties. Please take a look at the photos of my work as well as the work of the cabinet companies I install for ….. Thank you for your time. Kind Regards, Adam B. Hodgson
