Virginia creeper and poison ivy can be hard to tell apart, especially when growing in thick clumps. Virginia creeper is on the left having 5 leaflets, while poison ivy on the right has 3 leaflets. Poison ivy has "hairier" looking roots coming off the vine, and Virginia Creeper has thicker roots. As the old saying goes, "Leaves of three, leave it be."
