To lift or not to lift? 🍉 I’ve seen people put their watermelons in mesh hammocks, on top of upside down flower pots, or even on bricks to keep them off the damp ground. Is it worth the effort, or do you just let nature do its thing?

Thanks to everyone who attended our last Garden Meeting.
Here is a brief synopsis of what was discussed:
1. 2026 Plots
a) Yearly forms were filled out and turned into Becky
b) Val has decided not to return, her plots will be cleaned out
b1. Bob will build Val’s area into a new plot (this plot has been claimed by Lori)
c) Total of 3 new garden plots will be put in this year using the metal above ground containers. They are slightly different in size but are cheaper overall and should last longer than wood.
d) The old community herb garden plot is still being cleared out
d1. Minnie has claimed the remainder of the herbs and some of the black berries.
• Remainder of the blackberries will be removed & we are hoping to have any roots that survive the winter fully removed by end next year.
• The intent is to have it turned into a family plot by ’27 but it may take an additional year until ’28 depending on how hearty the roots are

2. Treasurers Report
a) May 2026: On hand: $1,209.62

3. Garden Maintenance
a) Composte was ordered and should be delivered by this week

4. NOTICES / REMINDERS
a) Remember September 12 is the date for the City Festival
a1. We are seeking donations of baskets (approximate value of $20/30) to raise funds for our garden
• Turn baskets in by Aug 19th, at the last meeting
a2. Volunteers for the weekend are also needed, please see Becky to sign up

5. Next meeting date
a) Wednesday, June 17th ⋅ 6:00 – 7:00pm
