Hey friends! I’m doing something pretty epic. This is a giveaway for my Instagram channel. It’s free, I’m only asking for you to help my business grow. With that, I’m giving a free chance to win a really nice helical cutterhead for the DeWalt 735 planer.

I won’t bore you with all the details here, but I made a reel on Instagram if you’re interested. Would love it if you’d share to your friends and family as well too. Just a small thing to help that little business grow 🙂

It’s officially done! I was sidetracked on quite a few other things for way too long. Now, the doors are on and the reduction in noise makes for a much more peaceful office.

Order of operations is very important. This cabinet has been quite a learning process. When I built Apollo it was assembled and then finish sanded and shellacked. This time I have been finish sanding specific areas and then shellacking and assembling. This has resulted in a LOT smoother and more even application on all the pieces. But the stress level is also higher since the pieces are “finished”.
Reason? The back “locks” everything into place. I couldn’t assemble this during the carcass glue up because I used sliding dovetails for the dividers. You may ask why I went to all that work when a dado “would have worked”. Wood movement! With these sliding dovetails on the vertical dividers they will help lock the top and bottom and prevent them from warping seasonally. That keeps the piece more rigid and the drawers should roll smoothly all year round.

This blank space used to be boring and “useless”. Now, there’s a functional spice cabinet!
Don’t judge me too harshly, please. I think it looks terrible and I see every flaw, misalignment, and issue. Thankfully the new owners don’t mind and they LOVE it. First bent wood project and I learned quite a bit. Next one will be better 😎

Do you have a son that collects rocks? Yes, all shapes and sizes. They’re in his pockets, his shoes, my truck, his room, and anywhere you can imagine.
Then, someone gave us the idea of having him put them all in a shoe box. Great idea, legendary idea!!! But let’s upgrade that to a nice handmade walnut and maple box. I think he was excited? Just maybe?
He loves showing people his “rock box”!

Just a few little projects I worked on. A nice frame for the father in law, holding a signed copy of Conan the Barbarian. A utensil holder for the kitchen, and a really cool epoxy and pecan charcuterie board. It’s nice to revisit the early projects.

I decided that I’ve spent a significant amount of time on customer projects, I needed something for me (or the shop/business).
I only had an hour or so, but I needed a good place for my chisels before they all became too damaged to use. So, off to the scrap bin and this is the result. Absolutely functional, but not much more than that. Some magnets hold the bottoms in place and they are strong enough that the slight backwards tilt does fine holding them. When I get all nice chisels, that’s when I’ll make the next resting place. Each shop item becomes a little prettier with each subsequent version. I like it.
