Meet Pub.

Around Banjo, he’s basically the glue holding the whole place together.

Pub has been around ammonia refrigeration for as long as he can remember - literally. As a kid, he traveled by train to Chicago with his grandparents to source parts from OEMs and learn the business firsthand.

He later studied Ammonia Refrigeration at Dunwoody College of Technology and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, but a lot of what makes Pub so valuable can’t be taught in a classroom.

It’s the decades of experience.

The ability to look at an old piece of equipment and know what it is.

The stories.

The troubleshooting.

The relationships.

The kind of knowledge that only comes from spending a lifetime in the industry.

He’s even been called the “Dale Earnhardt of Ammonia Refrigeration” - which, if you know Pub, feels pretty fitting.

He is hilarious, completely one of a kind, and a huge part of why so many customers keep calling Banjo year after year.

Banjo would not be Banjo without him.

What’s in the Banjo warehouse? 👀

Let’s start with something you don’t exactly see sitting on every supplier’s shelf anymore.

Older ammonia expansion and regulating valves are still out there working in refrigeration systems across the country - and when one needs replaced, finding the right size, connection, or configuration can get interesting pretty quickly.

Fortunately, more than 100 years in this business has left us with a warehouse full of things that are a little harder to come by.

So this is your reminder:

Before you assume an older refrigeration part is impossible to find… call Banjo.

Older industrial refrigeration equipment was built to work - and in plenty of cases, it still has a lot of work left in it.

Compressor rebuilds have been part of what we do at Banjo for generations.

Sometimes new is the answer.

Even a few pictures from different angles can help us figure out what you’re working with and what direction to go next.

In industrial ammonia refrigeration, especially with older systems, parts are not always as simple as typing a number into a search bar. Sometimes numbers have changed. Sometimes manufacturers no longer support certain items. Sometimes the part has to be identified by experience, application, or what it came off of.

That’s why we always appreciate as much information as you can send.
