Shelf made from a wide variety of exotic woods, commissioned by a client.

Since the wood is dense and heavy, and the grain is in the “wrong” direction, there are two steel reinforcing strips embedded lengthwise into the underside. Otherwise the shelf would break along the grain unless handled very carefully.

Douglas Fir.

Build-in-place cabinets.
Maple rails & stiles with MDF panel.
I HATE build in place… you never have all the tools you want that are in the shop.
Plus, using the walls as part of the structure means you have to compensate for things that are not straight or square.
