🔨 WALLS ARE GOING UP AT STEAMERS! 🦪
Over half the walls are framed and standing tall at Steamers Clam Bar & Grill! What started as pilings and subfloor is now taking real shape as a building.
Next up: sheathing goes on, hurricane straps get installed tying the foundation all the way through to the roof, trusses go up, and interior walls start dividing out the space. This one is being engineered from the ground up to take everything the Gulf can throw at it.

Steamers Update!

Yes, we hear you and YES, there will be an elevator! 🛗🙌

Easily the #1 question we get asked is how everyone will get up to a restaurant built 16 feet in the air. Don’t worry, we’re not making anyone climb a rope ladder for dinner! Check out that concrete masonry shaft going up: full, easy accessibility is built right into the plan from the ground up.

Meanwhile, the crew is crushing it on the subfloor! The deck is coming together fast, and we’re set for some major visual progress next week as the walls officially start going up.

🔨 SUBFLOOR FRAMING AT STEAMERS! 🦪
Halfway there on subfloor framing at Steamers Clam Bar & Grill! The concrete piling foundation is carrying the load, and now the LVL beams, TJI floor joists, and floor trusses are stacking up across the site.
This elevated build keeps climbing, built to handle everything the Gulf throws at it. Every joist, every connector, every detail engineered for this island.

🔨 FRAMING DAY AT STEAMERS! 🦪
The piles are in, driven all the way to bedrock, and today we start framing at Steamers Clam Bar & Grill!
This elevated build is going up strong and coastal-ready, built to handle everything the Gulf throws at it. From timber piles to pile caps to the LVL beams going up now that will support the walls and roof load, every step is built for this island.

Taylor Construction & Development is seeking an experienced, full-time Construction Project Manager to oversee high-end custom residential and commercial builds and remodeling projects in beautiful Cedar Key, FL. We offer competitive pay, two weeks paid vacation, and four paid holidays in a laid back coastal community.
Reports To: Owner / General Contractor
Key Collaborators: Lead Carpenter, Subs, Engineers, AHJ
Core Software: Contractor Foreman & PlanSwift
Benefits: 2 Weeks Paid Vacation + 4 Paid Holidays
Role Overview & Key Responsibilities
You will own projects end-to-end from estimate to closeout, serving as the single point of accountability for budget, schedule, code compliance, and client satisfaction.
Takeoffs & Estimating: Execute takeoffs in PlanSwift, build scope/estimates via standard assemblies, and run two-review QC before Owner sign-off.
Scheduling & Sequencing: Maintain master critical-path schedules in Contractor Foreman, lead 1-2 week look-aheads, and manage coastal material lead times.
Client Communication: Act as primary point of contact; deliver direct, transparent schedule and cost updates (

All 48 concrete columns are complete. We're now moving into elevator shaft construction, with framing set to begin in the coming weeks.

STEAMERS CLAM BAR -FOOTER FOUNDATION PHASE COMPLETE
Foundation footers and pile caps are poured and rebar cages are in place. Concrete columns are going up. This is the structural backbone of the building, engineered to withstand Florida's high-wind coastal code requirements and support the elevated structure above.

It is official, dirt is moving at Steamers Clam Bar & Grill!
We officially broke ground today, and I can’t tell you how grateful the entire Taylor Construction & Development team is for this opportunity. Steamers is such a staple of the Cedar Key community, and being trusted to help bring it back to life is an honor we don’t take lightly.
There’s a lot of hard work ahead, but we’re excited to get to work on this build and help bring back a piece of the Cedar Key we all love.

It was an absolute pleasure bringing this beautiful bakery to life for our incredible clients.

Designed with charm, comfort, and function in mind, the space features cozy, open interiors and elevator access to make every visit smooth and welcoming. From the first design meeting to the final finishes, we loved being part of this journey.

We’re especially proud that the building has already stood strong through a Category 4 hurricane (Hurricane Helene) — a true testament to teamwork, thoughtful planning, and quality construction. 💪🌪
