How do you enjoy your 21228 honey?!

Air fryer granola has become a weekly ritual in our house. It's simple. Throw together some plain oatmeal, seeds and nuts, pieces of fruit or preserves, a little sunbutter or peanut butter, some cinnamon, ginger, and a pinch of salt... add a good drizzle of fresh honey, stir. Then set it at 330F for 10 minutes with a quick a stir halfway through, and you've got a fresh, healthy breakfast every morning!

Last week, Kenny opened a hive for the very first time. It was awesome to watch any remaining bit of fear he had melt away when he finally decided to remove his gloves and handle the bees gently with his bare hands. A couple even said hello inside his veil, but by then he was perfectly at home with them.

Together we split that colony, and by this weekend his new hive was incubating their new queen.

This week, helping at the farmers market, Kenny talked with visitors about the bees in our observation hive, and helped families “adopt” bees so that the next time they see one, it might just be “their” bee!

It's one of the best parts of beekeeping, watching fear turn into curiosity, and curiosity turn into care.

One of the things I love most about the Adopt-a-Bee project is the idea that kids might start looking at bees differently.
Instead of fear, maybe there’s curiosity.
Maybe every time they see a honeybee in their yard, at the playground, or on a flower downtown, they’ll wonder:
“Could that be Goldie?”
“Maybe that’s Bumble.”
“I think I saw Scout!”
That little spark of imagination can turn into appreciation, and appreciation often turns into care.
If kids grow up seeing bees as living neighbors instead of scary insects, maybe they’ll grow up planting more flowers, spraying fewer chemicals, and protecting the tiny creatures that help feed the world.
That’s the goal, anyway. 🐝
See you at the Market!
