Finished up this phase of a custom red oak cabinet and trim project I’ve been working on. This finish on these cabs looks insanely cool in person - Rubio Intense Black Pre Color + Maintenance Oil + a light scuff and buff. Trim package is a modern craftsman style, painting by the great Wild Fox Painting. Yes, the light right above one of those double cabs is getting replaced 🙂 I’ve got several more projects with these awesome clients - next up is a floating desk with the same finish.

Check out this latest build 👀 Custom White Oak Cabinet with regular sawn 8/4 frame and face frame, solid 3/4 panels, 13/16” doors with rift sawn panels, tenon joints and dados all over. Made to fit a double drawer fridge, and a coffee bar up top. We are missing the top k***s here, but they are coming.

Color is Rubio Monocoat 5:1 ratio of Pure/Dark Roast. In 3 weeks I’ll stop by and coat it with Rubio Renew to seal it and give it a very slight sheen.

This was a unique and challenging project. It took me 3x longer than planned with all the hiccups along the way, but we got there ✌️ Thanks for checking it out!

Check out this finish: Custom Red Oak Cabinets with Rubio Monocoat Pre-Color - Intense Black, two coats of Rubio Maintenance Oil, scotch pad (gray) and then 4k grit to lightly polish. It’s got a really pleasing leathered-look, and a ton of depth with the oak grain. First time I’ve done black stain-grade cabinets, pretty stoked about how they turned out.
