Nothing beats the feeling of a finished project done right. My husband just put the finishing touches on this major deck build!

Tackling an older home always keeps you on your toes. This one required structural reinforcement on the main wall and meticulous fascia work to tie everything together cleanly before building out the new deck and stairs.

So proud of the precision and h
eavy framing work that went into this one.

Every once in a while we get called into a project that has already been through several rounds of “that’s not going to work.”

This one was a great example. The homeowner had met with multiple contractors for consultations and estimates, and each one ultimately told him the same thing. Because of the topography of the property, what he wanted simply could not be done. His vision was straightforward though, he wanted a set of stairs that would connect the spaces he needed while not blocking or taking away from the view from either set of windows.

When we walked the property, it was clear why others had concerns. The grade, sightlines, and transitions all needed to be handled carefully. But instead of starting with limitations, we focused on how the space could function if everything was designed with intention from the ground up.

Through thoughtful layout planning and a design approach that worked with the natural slope rather than against it, we were able to create a solution that preserved the view and provided the access the homeowner was hoping for. We also incorporated a fence with two gates to help define the space while still keeping movement around the property easy and functional.

Projects like this are a reminder that sometimes it is not about whether something can be done, but about how it is approached.

One thing just about everybody in the South can agree on: if you've got a pool, a stock tank, a sprinkler, or even a water hose and a lawn chair, summer suddenly gets a whole lot better.

And let's be honest... we've all looked over at a neighbor's backyard project and thought, "Well now I'm a little jealous."

Whether it's a custom pool deck, a stock tank retreat, a privacy fence, or an outdoor space built for relaxing after a long day, investing in your backyard is really investing in how you spend your time at home.

If your backyard could use a little upgrade before the heat really settles in, let's talk.

🌧️ This week’s spring rain in Cartersville, GA and Bartow County was not a major storm event, but it was enough to reveal where underlying drainage and erosion issues may already exist, especially in newer developments where grading and soil settling are still adjusting.

If you noticed standing water, soggy areas in the yard, minor washouts, or moisture near your foundation, these are early warning signs that should not be ignored. In North Georgia’s clay-heavy soil, even moderate rain can expose problems that will continue to worsen over time.

At All Together Backyards, we specialize in erosion control and drainage solutions in Cartersville and surrounding areas, including
-French drains for proper water redirection
-Retaining walls for slope stabilization
-Yard grading to correct water flow
-Long-term stormwater management solutions such as dry rock beds

Addressing these issues early can help protect your foundation, landscaping, and overall property value before heavier seasonal rains arrive.

Custom Garden Design in North Georgia 🌿

At All Together Backyards, creating custom garden spaces has always been part of what we do. From raised garden beds and custom greenhouses to fenced-in garden areas, we design and build outdoor spaces that are both beautiful and functional.

These projects feature a greenhouse built from reclaimed windows, an in-ground greenhouse using a recycled skylight, and custom raised beds with protective fencing, all designed for year-round growing here in North Georgia.

If you’ve been thinking about a backyard garden, greenhouse, or homestead-style setup, we’d love to help bring your vision to life.

Opening up this covered back porch for a client.

This ranch-style home originally had four support posts across the porch, which limited the view and usable space.

We installed a structural header beam so we could safely remove two of the posts and open the porch up while still fully supporting the roof above.

The result is a much more open and functional covered back porch while keeping everything solid and structurally sound.

If you’ve ever wondered whether posts or beams can be removed to improve your outdoor space, we’re always happy to take a look and talk through options.
