I decided to do a practice run at brazing 7/8" copper to aluminum in my garage since this type of brazing is a rare occurrence for me,
I don't get much exposure to this aside from an aluminum leak repair once in a while.

I'm not much of a camera man. But here's the abridged version of the process.
Root cause lack of maintenance.
What followed from it:
Tripped 50 amp breaker from high amp draw due to high head pressure.
Fan flex from trying to suck air through a heavily impacted condenser coil causing fan blade to hit discharge line risking a complete refrigerant charge blowout.
The capacitor and fan motor failure was caused by the same lack of maintenance 2 years prior on my last visit.

It's hard to believe I cleaned this coil 2 years ago and it looks like it's never been cleaned before.
Every Summer I run calls night and day replacing capacitors, fan motors, compressors, and entire Systems for this very reason.
Most people don't give much thought to their HVAC System until it doesn't work so I just want remind everyone how important it is to take care of your system so it can take care of you.
If it seems like it's not working, turn it off immediately and have a Technician look at it so a minor maintenance or component issue doesn't turn into something catastrophic.

Just finished this Heat Pump Conversion a few days after being added to the SMUD contractor list.
The $2,000.00 rebate actually made it cheaper than the single stage gas system for once.
Everything went well and I'm pretty happy with it's performance.
