Now THIS is something you don’t see every day…

We were called out for an adult skunk that somehow managed to get caught in a rat trap and was left dangling from the side of a deck!

Wildlife can get itself into some pretty unusual situations, and this was definitely one of them. Thankfully, we were able to safely handle the situation and help this unlucky skunk.

One opossum… or TWO? 😳

A resident called us after discovering what he believed was an opossum hiding inside his hot water heater closet. One of our newest wildlife technicians arrived to investigate—and quickly confirmed he was right.

But there was a surprise waiting for her… there were TWO opossums hiding in there!

She got right to work and safely wrangled and removed both animals from the area. The homeowner was pretty shocked at how quickly she was able to take control of the situation and resolve the problem!

We love seeing our newer technicians gain confidence in the field and handle unexpected wildlife situations like this one. Great job! 👏

You never know what might be hiding in those dark, quiet spaces around your home!

A Special Rescue for One of Our Newest Team Members!

Yesterday, one of our newest employees, Madison, had the opportunity to help a beautiful adult barn owl that was found injured in a customer’s backyard underneath a stored vehicle.

The owl appeared to have a broken wing and was unable to fly, so Madison carefully captured and secured it for transport to a wildlife rescue facility where it could receive the care it needed.

We’re especially proud of this one. 💚 Madison is still fairly new to the team, and she did an amazing job staying calm, handling the situation safely, and making sure this beautiful bird got a second chance.

For those of you who know Madison personally, you know she has grown up around animals and wildlife—and now she’s starting to put that experience to work herself. Pretty proud mom and business owner moment! 🥰

Great job, Madison! And hopefully this beautiful barn owl will be back in the skies again soon. 🦉

“That sound will stop you in your tracks… 🐍”

The homeowner stepped outside to enjoy the evening when they heard a sound that instantly made them freeze…

Just a few feet away, this rattlesnake was coiled up and letting everyone know it didn’t want to be disturbed.

Fortunately, they called Sacramento Valley Wildlife Services before anyone got hurt.

Not all attic noises are caused by rodents… This homeowner had a much bigger visitor. 🦝

The homeowner called because they kept hearing strange noises coming from above the ceiling.

At first, they thought it might be a squirrel.

Then we opened the attic and discovered a surprise waiting for us…

A mother raccoon had turned the attic into a nursery for her babies. 🦝❤️

Like many wildlife moms this time of year, she was simply looking for a safe, warm place to raise her family. Unfortunately, attics often seem like the perfect spot from a raccoon’s point of view.

As soon as we found them, mom kept a close eye on every move we made while making sure her babies stayed safe.

It’s moments like these that remind us how incredible wildlife can be. No matter the species, a mother’s instinct to protect her young is powerful.

Ever heard a baby raccoon chatter?

These adorable sounds are how baby raccoons communicate with their mother and siblings. Young raccoons can make a surprising variety of vocalizations when they’re hungry, cold, frightened, or simply looking for reassurance from mom.

This little one was part of a family that had been nesting in an attic. Unfortunately, years of dry rot and raccoon activity caused part of the ceiling to give way, and the mother raccoon fell through into a bedroom below. She quickly found her way back outside, but her babies were left behind.

After carefully removing the babies, we placed them in a secure reunion box outside near the home. Before long, mom returned and safely carried each baby to a new nesting location.

Stories like this are a great reminder that wildlife moms are incredibly dedicated to caring for their young. Whenever possible, our goal is to reunite wildlife families and give them the best chance of success in the wild.

Have you ever heard a baby raccoon make sounds like this before?
