Beautiful plant combo alert!

We’re loving this late-summer pairing. Tall Coreopsis (𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘴 '𝘎𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥') glows in the sun, while Giant Hyssop (𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦 ‘𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘦’) adds bold vertical blooms right in front.

The bright yellow and purple-blue is such a great color combo, and the mix of textures keeps things interesting. And both bloom into late summer, bringing some much needed color to the garden as those early-summer perennials start to fade. Plant in full sun for the best show of blooms. A perfect late-summer pairing!

A beautiful highlight from a recent project. We love how these natural stepping stones gently lead you through the lawn, connecting the different spaces of the garden. The stone retaining walls add structure and create beautiful planting areas while helping this sloped site feel more intentional and connected to the main house. A low hedge of FlowerFull Smooth Hydrangeas softens the wall and creates a cozy transition from the front yard to the home. A great example of how thoughtful hardscape can be both practical and beautiful!

I’m sure you’ve noticed an abundance of these hydrangeas as you drive and walk around just about anywhere. It’s Panicle Hydrangea season, and it has been glorious this year! Unlike their more sensitive blue cousins, these hardy hydrangeas can take the sun and heat and still hold up beautifully.

These beauties are commonly known as Bobo Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata ‘Bobo’), loved for their compact size and large, conical flower clusters. The flowers start out white and transition to a soft pink as the season progresses.

We love using them as a low hedge or mixed in a perennial border. And you just can't beat hardy panicle hydrangeas for end of the season color!

A former client sent me this photo today. As a designer and business owner, it's so wonderful to hear that your clients are happy. It's wonderful to see that your gardens are growing and thriving. It's wonderful to know that your plant combinations look amazing in August. This is the stuff that fills my happy bucket ❤️

Summer days are better when you can jump right in! We designed this backyard oasis for making the most of summer, with plenty of room to swim, play, relax, and enjoy the garden.

The pool is tucked beautifully into the landscape, with a Techo-Bloc paved terrace and lush perennial gardens that transition the yard into the surrounding woodlands. And we love how the pool feels like a natural extension of the garden rather than something separate from it. A pretty great spot to cool off on a hot summer afternoon!

We love finishing touches like this recent project highlight! A granite cobblestone apron adds character, defines the entrance, and creates a beautiful transition from the driveway to the walkway. Sometimes it's these little details that make a big difference.

One of our favorite things is revisiting past projects and seeing the gardens in their full summer glory! This mixed perennial bed has filled in beautifully. Trees and shrubs create the backbone of the planting, while ornamental grasses add movement and texture. Layers of colorful perennials keep the garden looking great all season long and provide a haven for pollinators, beneficial insects, and birds. This is why we love designing gardens that only get better with time!

Natural stone just always feels so timeless! We love this detail from a recent project. These granite steps, quarried locally and framed by a hand-built fieldstone wall, create a welcoming transition while blending seamlessly into the landscape. It's the kind of detail that looks like it's always belonged there.

It's summersweet season!! The intoxicating fragrance of this native shrub, also called sweet pepper bush, reminds me of hot August days, strolling near shady wetlands. The pink variety, 'Ruby Spice', grows to an impressive 6'-8' height and is adaptable to many soil types. Sun or shade, this pollinator magnet is an incredible addition to any garden.

Pollinators are CRAZY for this plant! Our native mountain mint, (Pycnanthemum muticum) has so much going for it. Here's a few features to know about...

1. She's perennial, loves dry, crappy soil and thrive on neglect.
2. Her foliage and flowers are a cool gray/green, which adds a unique foliage color to the garden.
3. Our native insects love it.
4. It's a mint, so the deer avoid it and rabbits tend to ignore it, too.
5. This beauty was named 2025 Perennial Plant Association's Plant of the Year!!!!

No need for music since nature's soundtrack is killer 🤟
