Yesterday, the DEVGRU team traded the factory floor for the fairway at the 19th Annual Hometown Classic Golf Tournament, benefiting Sky High for Kids! ⛳

The Hometown Classic is where the Sky High mission began, right here in Acadiana. Founded by Louisiana native Brittany Hebert Franklin, Sky High has grown into a leading force in the fight against childhood cancer. They fund pediatric cancer research and bring comfort and support to children and families going through treatment, through programs like Cancer Warrior Packs, Sunday Supper, and Sky High Adventures.

DEVGRU is proud to sponsor this critical mission and to have played alongside our friends at Acadian Contractors and Lemoine. Our team had a great day on the course for an even greater purpose! 🩺

Thank you, Sky High for Kids, for every aspect of the important work you do. We're very grateful and proud to be a part of it!

From the blacksmith's anvil to the robot cell: 3,000+ years of fabrication 60 seconds🔥

🔨 The Forge Era
Early smiths joined metal by heating it and hammering it together. Around 400 AD, craftsmen in India built the 6-ton Iron Pillar of Delhi this way, and it still stands more than 1,600 years later.

🏗️ The First Fabrication Company
That title is widely given to England's Coalbrookdale Company. In 1779, it built the Iron Bridge, the world's first major cast-iron bridge. Building with structural metal started there.

⚡ 1881: Arc Welding Arrives
Inventors Benardos and Olszewski joined metal with electricity instead of fire. It changed how the world builds.

🤖 Today: Robotic Welding
A manual welder is actually welding only about 20–30% of the shift. A robotic cell can weld 60–80% of the time or more.

The result: 2–3x the output, with every weld held to the same standard.
