Southern Illinois’ Sound Stage: An Oasis of Art, Culinary delights, and a fine diversified blend of endless Music—kicking off summer with Sunset Concerts and now rocking the fall with Off the Rails."

The City of Carbondale has announced the return of the Off the Rails Concert Series, bringing five free nights of live music to downtown Carbondale from August through October 2026. This year’s concerts will be held for the first time on the Robbie Stokes Memorial Stage at the New Era Events Plaza (200 S. Washington Street).

The 2026 lineup kicks off with the CarbondAlien Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 3–9 p.m., featuring The Hornworms, City of Soul, Tawl Paul & Slappin’ Henry Blue, Tr!cks, Stay Here, and the Southern Illinois Soul Jazz Coalition. Additional performances throughout the fall include Marcella Simien & Family Soul Band (Aug. 29), Didjits & Acumen during the Lost Cross 40th Anniversary (Sept. 4), Hot Like Mars & MoonShroom during H**p, Hops & Shrooms (Sept. 19), and the Kyle Tuttle Band with special guest Chris Housman during SIU Family Weekend (Oct. 2).

All concerts are free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy local food vendors. Alcohol is permitted within the Downtown Entertainment District in accordance with City regulations. Vendor applications are also now open for the 2026 concert series.
