Buried irrigation lines, rock a few inches under the surface, extra base material once old concrete comes out, any of those can add cost mid-project. Ask the contractor to list those exact triggers before the first shovel goes in. Any added work should come with a signed change order before it starts, never a bigger invoice after the fact.

Thanksgiving guests arrive in seven weeks. Christmas lights get hung the week after that. Rain on freshly applied paver sealer traps moisture underneath before it can cure. The result is a cloudy white haze across the surface, called blushing, and in bad cases the sealer can peel.

A dry window after application matters more than getting it done on schedule. Sealer needs time to bond to the paver before any moisture hits it, rain or even heavy dew.

A patio that looks right for one afternoon is not the goal.
