The concrete block walls and concrete block columns have been erected for the San Carlos Island project. The concrete block walls are separated from the concrete block columns and are called "Blow out walls". When a hurricane storm surge comes in the walls are designed to wash away with the storm surge so they do not pull the house down as they are collapsing. The concrete columns hold the house up. The concrete block walls around the elevator pit are not blow out walls and are designed to remain in tact during a storm surge.
Keep following for progress photos.
The next step here is the formed and poured solid concrete tie beams that will wrap around the perimeter and down the center of the structure.
