Not every remodel needs to chase the newest trend to work well.

This real ProSkillz kitchen keeps the palette simple—white cabinetry, stainless appliances and a stone surface with plenty of movement—but the part that changes daily use is the large peninsula/work surface in the middle.

It gives the room prep space, serving space and casual seating without making the perimeter cabinetry do everything.

Would you rather have more cabinet storage or a larger uninterrupted work surface?

Should homeowners buy their own fixtures? Sometimes yes. But the cheapest online price can become expensive if the product does not match the plan.

Before you order your own faucet, shower trim, light or appliance, confirm:

• Exact model number
• Compatibility with the rough-in
• Every required accessory/valve/driver
• Delivery date
• Who owns returns and warranty issues

A missing $30 part can stop a day of labor that costs a lot more than $30.

Would you rather source your own fixtures or let the contractor coordinate them?

Small bathroom does not have to mean quiet bathroom.

This real ProSkillz space uses a very restrained vanity and countertop, then lets the dimensional black shower tile become the entire feature. The gold faucet and towel hardware add warmth without competing with it.

The part I like most is the contrast: one bold surface, everything else controlled.

Would you use a statement tile this strong in your own bathroom—or keep it more timeless?

This room is designed around entertaining—not around pretending every square inch has to look like a traditional kitchen.

This real ProSkillz space puts the sink and work surface directly beside the large sliders, with illuminated cabinetry and display storage nearby. The result is a bar/serving area that stays connected to the lanai instead of hiding from it.

In Southwest Florida, that indoor-outdoor connection can completely change how a room gets used.

If this were your house, would you prioritize the bar setup or use the same space for more closed storage?

The most expensive time to make a basic design decision is often after the trade that needed the answer has already finished.

Before demolition, try to lock down the things that drive rough work:

• Appliance and fixture models
• Plumbing locations
• Lighting, switches and outlets
• Flooring, cabinet and trim transitions

A “small” late change can ripple through framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, cabinetry and finish work.

Good planning does not eliminate every surprise. It does eliminate a lot of avoidable ones.

What was the hardest decision in your last remodel?

The prettiest part of a shower is usually the least important part for keeping water where it belongs.

Tile is the finish. The real water-management work is behind it: the substrate, waterproofing system, drain integration, corners and every pe*******on through the assembly.

That is why a shower remodel should never be evaluated by tile alone. The hidden work is what protects everything around it.

Save this before your bathroom remodel—and ask your contractor what waterproofing system is being used before the tile goes up.

A home theater is a good reminder that remodeling is not always about kitchens and bathrooms.

In this ProSkillz project, the room is built around the experience: tiered seating, dedicated speakers, a projector, dark finishes and linear accent lighting across the ceiling and feature wall.

The lighting is what changes the personality of the room. Turn it down and the architecture disappears into the movie. Turn it up and the ceiling becomes part of the design.

If you were building a media room, what would matter most to you: better sound, better seating or better lighting?

A remodel under $7,500 does NOT automatically mean “no permit” in Cape Coral.

Florida’s HB 803 created a narrow small-project exemption effective July 1, 2026, but Cape Coral’s guidance is very clear: electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas and structural work do not qualify—and an exemption request has to be reviewed and approved before work begins.

That matters here because a lot of remodeling scopes touch more than one trade. Price is only one piece of the permit question.

Before demo starts, make sure somebody has answered:
• What exactly is in the scope?
• Does this address/project qualify for an exemption?
• Who is pulling the permit if one is required?
• What inspections are part of the job?

Cape Coral homeowners: have permitting questions ever changed the way you planned a remodel?

Clean finishes get attention. Shared-bathroom function is what you notice every morning.

This real ProSkillz bathroom includes:

• two sinks with separate work zones
• drawer storage on both sides
• a full-width mirror that keeps the room open
• dedicated vanity lighting over each sink

The quiet win is that two people can use the room without competing for one drawer, one light or one patch of counter.

What matters most in a shared bathroom: more counter space, more drawer storage or better lighting?

A beautiful kitchen can still be frustrating.

Before choosing cabinets and finishes, plan the routine:

• Can people move between the cook zone and seating without colliding?
• Is there useful landing space near the refrigerator, sink and range?
• Is storage located where the task happens?
• Is task lighting placed where you actually prep and clean?

Houzz’s 2026 kitchen study found that storage-focused built-ins and task-specific zones remain major priorities—because a kitchen has to support daily life, not only photographs.

Which would bother you most: poor traffic flow, no landing space, weak storage or poor lighting?
