Today, Home Fixerz Construction had the privilege of partnering with the SWFL Rotary - Southwest Florida Rotary Club to donate backpacks and school supplies to The Heights Foundation for their annual Back-to-School Outreach. For many children, a backpack filled with school supplies is more than just a bag—it’s confidence, hope, and a reminder that their community believes in them. Every child deserves to begin the school year with the tools they need to learn, grow, and dream.

We’re grateful to The Heights Foundation for the incredible work they do serving families in our community, and we’re honored to play a small part alongside the SWFL Rotary Club in helping local students start the school year strong. At Home Fixerz Construction, we believe that building stronger communities goes far beyond remodeling homes. It’s about investing in people and serving where we can.

As a licensed Florida General Contractor (License ) and co-owner of Home Fixerz Construction, I hate seeing homeowners taken advantage of by contractors who lack integrity. Here are a few additional red flags every homeowner should watch for:

🚩 Red Flag: Refusing Inspections or Transparency
A reputable contractor welcomes inspections and is transparent throughout the process. If they resist inspections, avoid answering questions, or don’t want you involved, that’s a major warning sign.

🚩 Red Flag: They Don’t Encourage You to Do Your Homework
Don’t rely only on Google reviews. A trustworthy contractor should have no problem with you doing your due diligence.
Instead:
• Speak directly with past clients.
• Ask for references from current projects.
• Visit an active job site if possible.
• Ask questions about communication, timelines, change orders, cleanliness, and how problems were handled.

🚩 Red Flag: No Lien Waivers or Payment Releases
As you make progress payments—and especially at the end of the project—you should receive lien waivers from subcontractors and suppliers. This helps protect you from being held responsible if someone who worked on your project was never paid.

The right contractor won’t be offended by your questions. They will appreciate an informed client because trust and transparency are the foundation of every successful project.

Planning a renovation? It’s smart to look for ways to save — but a bad contractor can turn a “good deal” into a very expensive mistake. Red flags to watch for before you sign anything ⬇️

Today, we traded job sites for a mission.

The Home Fixerz Construction team had the privilege of volunteering with CC Habitat for Humanity , helping frame walls that will soon become someone’s home.

It’s about creating places where families can feel safe, children can grow, and memories can be made.

We’re grateful to Habitat for Humanity for allowing us to use the skills God has given us to serve our community. It was also a blessing to work alongside fellow volunteers and members of the SWFL Rotary - Southwest Florida , all united by the same purpose—to make a difference.

Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for the opportunity. We look forward to serving again.

Home Fixerz Construction is honored to support The Heights Foundation’s Back to School Outreach.

Harlem Heights is home to many immigrant and low-income families who are working hard to give their children a better future. For many parents, something as simple as a backpack, pencils, notebooks, or school supplies can be a real burden. This year, The Heights Foundation is helping provide backpacks and school supplies for 500 children, and we are grateful to be part of it.

If you feel led to help, please consider donating supplies or giving toward this outreach. Every backpack makes a difference.

We believe God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others. And when a child walks into school prepared, confident, and supported, that matters.

Happy 250th Birthday to our nation! 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate the freedom, sacrifice, and courage that helped build this country. As we enjoy this 4th of July, we are praying for our whole nation, for unity, peace, and a brighter future for the next generation.

We started another new project this week!
One thing we don’t like to do is put our clients in a box. Every customer has specific needs, ideas, and dreams for their space, so we always start by listening.

For this project, their “magic wand” wish list is to open up the kitchen, create a higher ceiling, install new flooring, and remove those mirrors.

Their wishes are our command. Yes, we gave away the sofas😂🤦🏽‍♂️
