Doing something I have never donebefore, painting on my bathroom wall. I am on day 4 and I just looked down at my paint table . What a mess!!! Made me think of the Matthew West song “ My Story Your Glory” there is a line in the song that says

My story, Your glory. My pain, Your purpose. My mess, Your message."
I see the mess but God sees the beautiful flower. Eventually there will be an end process to this project but for now I see the mess. God is constantly writing our story …… keep going , may be a mess now but God is not finished with you yet.

My Last Bookcase: A Labor of Love & A Little Faith ✨

My latest bookcase is complete, and I wanted to share the process behind this vintage wallpaper-inspired piece!

I started by painting the body and shelves with Debi’s Design Diary DIY Clay Paint in Vintage Linen. I primed the back wall with Wise Owl Primer, which gives the raised stencil something to grip onto.

Next, I mixed joint compound with a little Dixie Belle Sea Spray to thicken the compound. I had purchased these beautiful tropical leaf stencils from JRV (Jamie Ray Vintage) some time ago and thought they would be perfect for this bookcase. 🌿

I placed the stencil where I wanted it, applied a thin layer of the compound, and carefully lifted the stencil. Once the raised leaves were completely dry, I lightly sanded them smooth. I then sprayed Krylon Clear Matte over each leaf to help prevent the joint compound from lifting while I painted.

Now the fun really began! 🎨

I painted Wise Owl Celtic Fog that I purchased fromRoses Untold Stories at The Thrifty Turtle over the raised stencil, giving it two coats. Then I added color washes of Debi’s Design Diary DIY Clay Paint in Walk on Water, Monet’s Garden, and Bohemian Blue to each individual leaf. All DIY Clay paint was purchased Pineapple Picasso

Once that dried, I dry-brushed Wise Owl Blush over the raised leaves to bring out their beautiful shapes. I finished by brushing on a little Debi’s Design Diary DIY Golden Ticket for just the right touch of shimmer. ✨

My goal was to create the look of vintage wallpaper, and I love how the layers of color and texture came together!

Finally, I protected the entire piece with two coats of Wise Owl Matte Clear Coat.

And, of course, this project is about more than paint and furniture. As I finish this chapter, this verse reminds me that faith means believing even when we can’t yet see the finished picture.

Romans 4:20–21 (KJV)
“And he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”

Proverbs 27:17 🩵

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

This piece is dedicated to my Cape Coral re:MADE family. ❤️

Just as two pieces of iron rub together to remove dullness and become sharp, people sharpen and improve one another through close connection, encouragement, and fellowship. I’m so thankful for the people God has placed in my life who challenge me, encourage me, inspire me, and help me grow!

For this piece, I had so much fun layering color and texture! 🎨

✨ I used all Debi’s Design Diary DIY Clay Paint, purchased from Pineapple Picasso

The layers:
🌸 First coat — Petal Pusher
🤍 Second color — Vintage Linen
❤️ Third color — Marquee
💙 Then I covered all those beautiful colors with Hey Sailor

I added Sea Spray Texture Additive, purchased from Cape Coral re:MADE to all the paint colors to create that amazing texture.

Then came the fun part! I added Numbered Decoupage Paper, purchased from Roses Untold Stories at Thrifty Turtle.

And to protect it all, I finished the piece with Wise Owl Top Coat, also purchased from .

But wait until you see what happened when I brought out the carbide scraper! 😍

By gently scraping back the textured layers, I was able to reveal all those gorgeous colors hiding underneath. Each layer peeking through tells its own little story—just like the people who sharpen and shape us along the way. 💙❤️🤍🌸

I love how this piece turned out, and I love that it carries a message of faith, friendship, creativity, and community.

This one will be available for purchase at Cape Coral re:MADE! 🏡✨

Thinking back how my journey began. I took a chalk paint class in 2015 at the Vintage Market Mall and Salvage in North Ft Myers ( no longer open😢) at the time I was working at HomeGoods and my friend Michelle Denisse Tapia Rizzo said to me “ I want my bedroom furniture painted it needs a facelift.” Why I said “yes “ I am not sure but Michell trusted me. I ended up painting the dresser, night stands and her lingerie chest. I added rub on transfers to the lingerie chest, this was a first for me as well. Moral to the story … don’t be afraid of failure be excited about the journey. Trust God with the path he has put you on.

There's something so special about using the gifts God has given us to bless others.

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." — 1 Peter 4:10

It was truly a blessing to refurbish this point-of-sale cabinet for the new thrift store at Marilyn's Village, which will be opening this fall. Being able to give back through furniture restoration is a gift I never take for granted, and I'm so thankful God has given me opportunities like this.

For this makeover, I used Wise Owl Paint in Celtic Fog, purchased from Rose Gonzalez-Mashek shop at Thrifty Turtle in North Fort Myers. I finished it with a soft wash of Wise Owl Blush, added the beautiful re•design with Prima "Scarlet Embrace" rub-on furniture transfer, and protected it all with two coats of Wise Owl Matte Topcoat.

My prayer is that this wonderful mission continues to thrive and touch countless lives. Marilyn's Village is a place filled with love, purpose, and community. I'll certainly miss the smiles, the hugs, and the incredible people—the Villagers—who make it so special.

If you've never visited, treat yourself to lunch at the Village. I promise your heart and your tummy will both leave full. ❤️

Proud to say that the chair I donated to our Cape Coral American Legion raised $275 for Special Olympics. I was able to meet the couple who won the chair yesterday. God has blessed me so I wanted to give back. The next chair I donate will reside in Catlin Illinois.
