Here’s a look at what we’ve been working on over the past few days at our project in Canton, NC!

So far, we’ve installed a culvert pipe, cut in a new driveway, and brought in two loads of ballast. We’ve also moved a large debris pile out of the way that will be burned at a later date. We’ve felled several trees on the upper side of the property and got everything cut up.

The plan for the rest of the week is to chip as much of the tree debris as possible, spread two loads of crusher run on the new driveway, and install the septic lines.

We’re incredibly grateful for the work, opportunities, and friendships that this journey continues to create. Thank you to everyone who trusts us with their projects!

Last week we completed a septic repair in Asheville, NC. We uncovered the existing tank and had it pumped by North Buncombe Septic Services. We greatly appreciate their quick turnaround on this last-minute repair, they were able to come out with only a day’s notice and priced everything very fairly.

Due to extremely limited setbacks and site restrictions, we crushed the existing tank and buried it, then installed the new tank in the same excavation. While replacing the inlet pipe to the distribution box, we discovered the existing d-box had deteriorated and crumbled apart, so we replaced the d-box as well and tied it back into the existing drain field.

We also installed risers on the tanks along with the new Guardian safety devices, which we like a lot! Everything was backfilled, graded, seeded, and strawed just in time before the rain began.

We appreciate all of our customers who trust us with these challenging projects!

Next, we’re on to a larger project in Canton, NC! We’ll be completing a driveway, pump system, and house pad for this customer. We’re excited to get started and look forward to sharing the progress with you all!

P.S. See if you can spot the slithering visitor we had in one of the photos! 🐍

Today we wrapped up a septic pump system project in Lake Toxaway for Watchman Construction.

The homeowner was experiencing an issue where the alarm on the control panel would activate every time a toilet was flushed. After troubleshooting the system, we found one of the floats was no longer functioning properly. Once we removed the lid from the junction box, we discovered heavy corrosion caused by moisture intrusion.

After further inspection, we found the original installation did not have continuous conduit run from the tank to the control panel. The wiring had been direct buried for a portion of the run and only transitioned into seal tight conduit near the control panel. Over time, ground moisture was able to enter the junction box, leading to corrosion and electrical issues within the system.

To properly repair the system, we completed the following:

✔️ Installed new 2 HP pump
✔️ Installed new floats
✔️ Installed new control panel
✔️ Reworked plumbing inside the tank for improved future serviceability
✔️ Installed new check valve and union assembly
✔️ Installed new conduit from tank to control panel
✔️ Sealed conduit with ISI-1500 to help prevent moisture and sewer gases from entering the control panel
✔️ Completed all new wiring connections
✔️ Fully tested system operation to ensure proper functionality

This project is a great example of why proper installation methods matter. Small shortcuts during the original installation can turn into major issues years later.

Today we finished rebuilding deck #2 for our family members in Pisgah Forest, NC!

This deck involved replacing all the joists, cutting custom stringers, installing new surface boards and handrails, and finishing it off with a thorough pressure wash. It feels good to have everything put back together and looking fresh again.

Just one final step left, a fresh coat of stain, and this project will be fully wrapped up!

We’re grateful for the work and excited to share the final results soon. Stay tuned!
