MYTH BUSTER MONDAY!

MYTH: Turing a light switch off means there is no power to the fixture.

FACT: In some wiring setups, power can still be present in parts of the fixtur or electrical box. Always shut the power off at the breaker before performing any electrical work.

Before replacing a light fixture, changing a bulb socket, or performing any electrical work, always turn off the appropriate circuit breaker and verify that power is off with a properly rated voltage tester. Never rely solely on the wall switch for protection.

⚠️ Safety Tip: If you’re unsure whether a circuit is energized, treat it as if it is and contact a qualified electrician. A few extra minutes spent checking can help prevent serious injury or damage.

While hot water may keep grease in liquid form for a short time, it doesn’t stay hot forever. As the grease travels through your plumbing system, it cools and begins to solidify on the inside walls of your pipes. Over time, more grease sticks to these deposits, narrowing the pipe and creating stubborn clogs that can lead to slow drains, backups, unpleasant odors, and costly repairs.

Even if you use dish soap, grease can still separate and harden farther down the line.

✅ The better solution: Let grease cool and solidify, then scrape it into a container or disposable can and throw it in the trash.

A few seconds of proper disposal can help prevent major plumbing problems later.
