Happy 2 year work-iversary, Lucas.

Two years as an apprentice electrician. He has officially moved from "which wire is this" to "I already know, but I'm still gonna ask." We are calling that growth. Thank you for everything you do for the team Lucas, we appreciate you! Here is to many more years!

Casing went on. Paint went on. Then we finally peeled the plastic off the stairs like it was Christmas, except the present was not stepping in wet paint.
That wall used to be a wall. Now it’s a hallway that actually goes somewhere. New threshold so nobody does the little trip-hop at the doorway.
Same stairs. Same rail. Way less “why is there a steel door here.”
Be honest — would you have guessed this used to be a solid wall?

Same hallway. New header. New opening.
The old steel door is sitting outside. The walk-through is finally starting to make sense. Then, Mud on the new opening. Patches on the stairwell. The brick at the floor stays open until the threshold is ready.

This is the part that looks messy on purpose. Which side of a remodel do you like watching more?

This stairwell started tight. One steel door at the top. One wall that needed to come open.
First we wrap the treads so the carpet survives the dust. Then the block comes out so a real opening can go in.
Ever walk a space and realize the doorway is the whole problem?

The addition has a roof line now.

Rafters are on. They pick up the old house instead of sitting next to it. Tarp is on until shingles go down.

This is the deck after the ugly parts.

New boards. Black railing. White lattice. Stairs that actually meet the patio. Up top, the second deck is in too.

Which one would you use more — the lower deck off the back door, or the one with the view?

Frame is done. Now it starts looking like a deck.

New boards on the lower level, a hatch so the basement door still works, and black railing around the edge. Stairs drop to the patio. Up top, the second deck is in.

Which part would you sit on first — the new wood or the upper deck?

Taking a break from the addition posts to bring you this!
This is why we pull the boards.

The railing looked tired. Underneath, the joists were done. Once the decking is off, you can see what should stay and what has to get replaced.

New joists go in. The frame gets squared up. Then it is ready for new decking and railing.

Ever been surprised by what was hiding under an old deck?

This is the moment an addition starts looking like a house.

The second-floor walls are up. The sheathing is on. You can stand in the room and see the window openings, then walk around front and see the whole shape against the original house.

What’s the first thing you notice — the size of that new room, or how it ties into the existing roof?
