3.) Breathing Mechanism: Cockroaches breathe through special body tubes called spiracles, which also help regulate the amount of water in their bodies.
4.) Resilient Creatures: They can live up to a week without their heads and can survive for three months without food and a month without water.
5.) Health Risks: Cockroaches can carry 33 kinds of bacteria, six different types of parasitic worms, and seven known pathogens.
6.) Nocturnal Nature: They are mainly nocturnal and will run away from light.
7.) Global Presence: There are approximately 4,000 species of cockroaches worldwide, with about 70 species found in the United States.
Cockroaches are incredibly adaptable and can thrive in a variety of environments, but they prefer warm conditions indoors. This adaptability is one reason why they are such common pests in homes and buildings.
